I kinda had a frustrating day myself, though nothing like Atoler. I heard some birds, but not much gobbling on the ground. Had some hens (and whatever else was with them) coming in and a trespasser come walking right through my property yelping on a mouth call, cutting on a box, and then gobbling at himself with some kind of contraption. He ran those birds off and another one that had just started gobbling up the mountain a little bit around 8:00. I could have killed one yesterday evening as I got in front of a group headed to roost, but I could only see his head and was afraid he would end up being a jake. I usually go at least 3 days during the week, but I won't be going any this week. Will be Saturday before I go again. Good luck if ya'll get out this week!

I'm hoping I can finally pull off some trips tomorrow morning and Friday evening. Not sure I can I do both, but I'm gonna try. Definitely going to be after them all weekend.

I work every third day and have someone coming in early for me on the mornings I'm getting off. I have several days off in April. Probably gonna be adding more.

I called one up and got to watch it die yesterday morning fellas. Go back today and the woods are totally dead. Things are really, really spotty up here right now fellas. I'm trying, but the turekeys aren't cooperating for squat. The good thing is that I've only taken one day off thus far and I have a pile of days I plan to take off. Maybe I will be some help at some point.

Well my jinx is official, Saturday heard 8-10 birds on public land but all were off the property by atleast 300yds. Called one in 3 different times in a pasture but couldn't get him to step on to the public land. Guided a buddy on his private that afternoon and should have had a double but they saw him 50yds out. The next morning same thing. Textbook off the roost and 20 minutes later pops his head over the ridge at 30yds only to immediately put and disappear. Moral of the story, don't try to take an ADD newb hunting while in a jinx. The. Yesterday afternoon I hustled to cahaba after work. Got a gobble, then nothing for 45 minutes. Another gobbles a ways off, I got ancy and stood up to go after him, and the original gobbler is standing at 20yds. And then I missed...... Shouldn't have shot but just reacted. Anyways went on after the other bird and got him 2 gobble several more times. They came in on a string several hens and two "Jakes". Went by at 20yds. He blew up into strut when I started playing with him after they had gone by.. And low and behold. Full fan. Couldn't get him to come back for nothin. So the jinx is official

Dang Atoler! Sounds like you are getting in some action! Maybe it won't be long now! I've been being patient and waiting for things to keep up a little and work to slow down a little before hitting it too hard...next weeks weather just may kick them (and me) into gear! Man, it doesn't feel like I've been in them. Some of the worst luck I've ever had so far, and the first time in years that I haven't had a bird down at this point in the season. I also broke a 5 year streak of killing on every hunt on private land that a bird gobbled. Between last season and this year. I'm getting humbled big time. Realizing its a lot harder to kill a bunch of birds when you don't get to hunt much

Realizing its a lot harder to kill a bunch of birds when you don't get to hunt much No doubt....Time to hunt and land with birds are the 2 most important things with turkey killing....Seems like I have neither! LOL
