Don't have the money to spend on a Nightforce or higher end scopes. After I get some bills paid off, I'm looking to get a .308 rifle and put a scope on it to shoot some longer rangers. I've always had Cadillac taste, but have a Yugo budget. Any suggestions on a good long range scope in the $400 to $750 range? Longer range shooting will be new to me, so I appreciate any help or suggestions on the best scope model in that price range.

If it were me, I'd put back as much as I could until I had enough to buy a Nightforce. Or buy one on a 12 month same as cash 0% interest deal.

N2trkys, is correct save up, or bear basin, optics plant, or some places have 12 monthsame as cash. But i am in patice my self sometimes! I have 2 Vortex pst scopes they are fine scopes for the money! 6x24x50 Vortex 30mm PST can be found for around 729 and less! They are good, clear, illumanated scopes that in my opion are as good as 1200-1300 leupold M4s! I have shot them out to 1460 yards and they always return to zero! Check them out at SWFA, they have non- illumanated foraround 550. I like nightforce , have 5 of them but i also have 2 Vortex pst also! give them alook, there in your price range!

check out clear ridge optics. They have really nice scopes for the money. I have two..the Ultra XP and Ultra XP 5. My son and I shoot them out to 800 yards a lot. I have to disclose that they used to be sponsors of mine and paid me to shoot them on TV but Ive retired now and have no skin in the game. I REALLY like them and still use them, Im not just saying it because they paid me. They have great prices. Here is there link and a link to a review comparing them to Bushnell and Nikon. http://www.huntingnet.com/forum/optics/201586-clearidge-ultra-xp-4-5-14x40.htmlhttp://clearidgeoptics.com/category/36338/1/ultra_xp5.htm

They are a real good scope for the money. Our range is only 1000 yards...so it works for us. I dont plan on having to shoot more then a half mile! If I did Id get a 50 cal!

for 0 - 800 they are a good product. My son who is in his late teens shoots it out to 700-800 with no problems on a 270 Winchester Model 70

When I was a in college use to shoot 1,000 yards with a 10x Unertl hand-me-down back before there were so many choices and I had any money.
If you are just target shooting you should consider looking at a fixed power if you are on a budget. You can always upgrade if you think it is necessary. Sightron makes some good scopes and Vortex. I believe there is a review/guide on Accurate Shooter addressing this very subject.
No government employees were harmed in the making of this mess.

Save up for a Nightforce.
