Does any one need an WC 867 rifle powder? This is new powder its used in 50 caliber an 20mm vulcan rounds. It will work in 338 lapua i know this for a fact. It may also work in heavy (175-210) 308 loads and so own. It has a burn rate just like AA8700. I here its very close to H-870 in burn rate aiso. Will be picking up some in a week or so. Price will be 80 dollars for 8lbs containers.

Do you reckon it has any use in 45-70 loads?

I would say yes. Have seen 45-70 loads somewhere on internet for sure. I know this because i saw 45-70 when i was looking for 338 lapua load starting point, just dont remember where. Know guys on longrangehunting use it in 338 exclaiber, 338 snipertec, 338 ultramag, 416 barret , 375 cheytec, and 50 bmg. Just look-up AA8700 loading data or h-870 and work up slowly. I started at 95 rains in 338 lapua and have worked up to 102 grains at 2790 fps with 300 gr otm bergers at 45 degreees.

Waaay too slow of a powder. It would fire, but you would have lots of unburned powder unless you used a pistol powder as a kicker.
Think of a 45-70 as just a longer pistol cartridge.

Lots of people are using Wc 867 for 45-70 on internet. Some like you said are using it as a duplex load. Just use AA8700 or H-870 for loading data starting point. Its is not my first choice for my 338 lapua , but its cheap so i may shoot it anyway! grin

Look at Alliant 2400 for your 45-70. I use 30 grains with a 300 grain HP for a mild load, but kills well.
I can scan my Sierra manual if you need some data.

Please do, I have loaded these bullets and had good success with varget, but would love to see what they have.

You know Widners sells it for $46.00 an 8lb jug plus hazmat.
I hear its great for starting fires with if nothing else for that price.

It is what it is.

Yes, thanks i was going to buy at 80 till i found out were the guy was getting it. He gave me 1 lb to try. It works great in 338 lapua with 300 gr otmj bullets! If anyone in north alabama wants to get some we could combine an order and save some money on the haz-mat! thumbup
