I guess it has a lot to do with where you live and work.I have NEVER,not even once been in a situation where I wished I was armed.I very seldom even lock the door when I leave the house,it will prolly bite me in the arse one day, but I try to keep myself out of places that I don't feel safe.I have never even owned a handgun,all hunting long guns is all I own.

Its with me the all the time .... My family and myself are too important not to carry... I would always regret it if something happened when I could have prevented it ....

I used to not carry till I walked out my front door to go to work and my truck had been stolen. Between the meth heads and my neighbors pit bull I carry all the time if I'm at the house it's laying on the end table on the couch or in the bathroom while I'm taking a shower. I don't carry at work but you better believe it's close by.

My Grandmother grew up in Ala. about 100 years ago and always told me to keep a gun close at hand, You never know when you might run across some varmint that needs killin. I have always tried to do that.

Something alot of ppl dont think about is what if you get home and your door is standing open. Now you don't know if someone is in your house with ALL your guns and you don't have one.

Of course I'd call the law and let them go in and look, but I know for a fact the bad guy doesn't have the gun on my hip.

I wouldn't bash anyone for not carrying, but there's no way I'd go to a "city" without one. Also it's much easier to get out of the habit of carrying when you pick and choose when you think you'll need it. If you carry all the time, it gets to be a habit, and it feels normal.

I heard a good point the other day. Someone said if you are just carrying when you THINK you need it, why would you go to that place to start with?

I carry most of the time. My motivation is two instance I had happen before I was legally old enough to get a permit; one was a strong armed robbery attempt on me and the other was when I got in the middle of two guys shooting at each other on the road at a red light. I was a teenager and both times scared the wax out of me. I can remember well how absolutely helpless I felt being unable to adequately defend myself. In the 27 years since, I've never had anything like those two times happen to me again but I wasn't expecting it the first time either.

My work takes me to some very bad neighborhoods at all hours of the night.
Our shop is in the middle of the hood. If I go down there at night I will not go without OC'ing.
Couple years back one of the guys came in early before daylight alone. Forgot something in his truck and when he opened the office door to step outside he was hit in the face with a 2x4 knocking him to the ground.
He was hit again twice in chest while on the ground before he was able to get a pistol out of his pocket and fired one time at the guy.

He spent the day in the hospital getting his face stitched up and x rayd.
2 days later the local PD found a man dead with a single gun shot wound about 4 blocks away from where this happened.

If this had happened 2 weeks prior it probably would have been reversed. The pistol he shot the guy with was a P11 keltec I had just sold him. He owned other guns but had never carried a pistol on him before then. Im sure it saved his life, or saved him from a severe beating.

Carrying is the responsible thing to do.

I deposit large sums of money into the bank about 3-4 times a week, so yes I carry.

I don't always carry on my person. 50% of the time right now. Carrying on my hip gets in the way sometimes with what I do for work. Once I get good pocket gun it will be 100%. But I always have at least 1 pistol in my truck with me at all times.

When I'm traveling or going to be in a bad area..100%
Running around Hoover or errands locally, just depends and is currently 50/50.
When my wife or kids are with me and we are out..100% of the time.

Reasoning: I practice free speech because I am free, I worship how I want because I am free, I associated with whom I choose because I am free---natural rights that God gave me and they are uniquely named and protected by the Constitution. Carrying a weapon for me is the same reasoning--I don't have to be afraid or have a "legitimate" reason in man's eyes because my rights don't come from mankind, they come from God alone--so I carry because I am free.

I ALWAYS carry! Tuscaloosa is becoming rather rough lately and I'd rather have it and not need it, than not have it and need it.

I have not carried a pistol on my person since the current place I work was bought by a large company that forbid us from having weapons in our vehicles, but to be honest I very seldom did before that and I was a police officer for years. I occasionally carry one to my hunting club during the off season, but that is not for protection from people.

If I am not mistaken alabama passed a law that allows you to have a gun in your vehicle at your work place. I've always had one in mine. It was comforting when a guy started shooting up his apartment a couple months ago

yes you can have one in your vehicle except at a few govt locations and such.

I was referring to rough parts of town being in Huntsville-where I work. But yes I carry in Jackson county as well and I would carry in your peaceful little town of "Mayberry" too ...I'll likely never need it, but at least I have it.
