It sure gets old complicating the rules some more. Seems like the rule was to protect players, but further causing more reads by the QB (Time?). This sounds like something Congress would come up with. And I, too, would like to see the data.

I don't understand why it would be up to the offense to wait 11 seconds to snap the ball after it is put in play. Why not get the ref to prevent putting the ball into play until the Saban /Bieslma special time allowance expires?

Someone is butt hurt this morning! I think in the middle of all those letters you call a sentence you said something about FSU. You must have watched a different game than I did...cause we gave it away plain and simple. Now talk about something being beating quickly...how about that Sugar Bowl? Bunch of dumba$$ auburn fans is what i see.if yall saw the recruiting day coverage when saban said he was going after smaller quicker ends to keep up with the hurry up type spread lots of teams are going to. sounds like someone who is making changes to keep up with the times. why would he do this if his so called crying would get the ncaa to changes the rules for him. thus this just a bunch of auburn fans talking out there buts again. fsu didnt have a problem with the hurry up. they sent your ass back home with a big L in a hurry.

I can't wait to hear all the crying from the auburn fans over this. It's not Auburn people that are crying. Apparently little Nicky is the cry baby on this one. And trying to frame this like the concern is player safety. LOL! Where is the data showing more defensive injuries in games against HUNH offenses? More faked injuries to stop the clock maybe but no more real injuries. Total horse s##t. Auburn fans crying.... See exhibit "A" above. That didn't take long! On a serious note I doubt the rule change gets approved and I really hope saban proves his worth as the highest paid coach in the country an figures out how to slow it down this season.

If the new rule means that refs are in proper position to make calls that were regularly missed like illegal motion, ineligible receivers downfield, too many men in the backfield, etc, then I'm all for it....or add two more refs. Biggest problem I see with it is that there were LOTS of missed calls that should have been easily seen by a referee crew in position to make calls.
Auburns tying TD there was a Lineman down field when Marshall threw the ball. I thought for sure they were going to call it

For all the mistakes Cyrus Jones made this year learning the cb position, he made the proper read on that play in leaving the receiver to make a play on the qb. He stated that he recognized the linemen down the field, and knew it was a run. Everyone but the refs saw it, apparently.

Auburns tying TD there was a Lineman down field when Marshall threw the ball. As long as a lineman is not more than 3 yards downfield it's not a penalty. And no Auburn lineman was more than 3 yards downfield on the play. Learning the actual rules of the game....it's a good thing!

The real problem IMO with the HUNH is that the referees seem to be cater to the team on offense that is trying to hurry up and snap the ball. The refs should have some guidelines as to how long it takes them to set the ball and be ready for next play.
