Looking at getting a new pair of light weight lace up boots for chasing my mountain feist. Seems like a lot of people used to wear them but I don't see them around much anymore. Oh yeah I'm wanting to stay under $150 for boots

Yep, I still have the "Maine Hunting Boot" in the tallest size they make (18 inches, maybe?), going on 12 or so years now. These are the dark brown ones and I still use them quite a bit.

I'm wearing 10" ones just like those now. Aside from getting spoiled by the absence of laces, with Mucks and the like, they're my all time favorites. Great traction without the big mud holding cleats, really lightweight, and I feel like I'm quieter walking in them than anything else I've worn... I guess because the soles are flexible and thinner than is typical so you feel the ground better.

I've got an old old pair that I still wear.

I turkey hunt in the boots shown there. Call your order in and ask to pay the $5 for grommets instead of eyelets and they are much easier to take on and off. If you get someone that says they don't make them like that anymore, hang up and call back.

There are actually two different boots. The Maine hunting shoe has a softer sole for walking around in the woods and such. The bean boot has a tougher, harder sole made for everyday wear on harder substrates.

I have a pair that I got in 1997 that the soles are slick on. For chasing these curs around squirrel and coon hunting I have gone to a lacrosse boot with Dans chaps on them. Much better when your in a swampy area and they're also briar proof. They should be around you're 150$ range.

We dont have much in the way of briars where i hunt. Mostly old growth pines and hardwoods. Most of the lacrosse ive had were heavy and make my feet sweat bad.

You can send those bean boots back and have them resoled.

Better than nekkid legs from a determined biter, but I'm not sure about snake proof.

Two questions

1 does the rubber lower hold up - I guess the answer is yes if some last 16+ years

2 are the comfortable for long walking.

I'd like to have a pair of the uninsulated boots for turkey hunting
