If you want a good screen that will benefit you in the long run, get up with me this spring and we will go out to my daddy's and get some of the cane he grows. That stuff will block all visibility and you can sell the poles when they get about 15 feet tall. That stuff reproduces like fire ants, there are zillions of them there. That will work and it grows quickly.

You have read the law correctly. You can hunt it if you are the landowner no matter how close the house is. Doesn't this only apply if it's your house??

Oh, so you have some of it too? Ask TC about the time he came into contact with it in his skivies.
Ahhh, good times. This was the "good" side on my leg.

If i'm not mistaken, you can only hunt that close to a house if its your house. I know it sucks, when someone builds next to you, but like has already been said, you shouldn't have put a food plot close to the line. I would plant some pines in it. If the neighbor doesn't keep their dogs up, i would have a big problem with that, and that would be resolved pretty quick. Tell them your trapping coyotes with steel traps, and if they don't want their little scruffy to get into one of the traps, they better keep him up. Make a deal with them, keep the dogs up, and you wont block their view. Surely there's a leash law where you live. How much land do you own? Yep you can hunt as close to your OWN house as you want, but other houses is a completely different situation. Honestly, I would have a hard time hunting that close, 60 yds is VERY close, to somebody else's house. Kids, pets, common courtesy, etc.. I would imagine that the neighbors could make it an issue if they want. Personally speaking ain't nobody gonna be hunting with a gun that close to my house. Far too dangerous!

I've already talked to them about the dogs as she's insinuating I'm coming on her property and stealing chit off her property or the way she made me feel. She said she would be out there with her guns and mean arse dogs her words. I asked her if she would have them fenced and she said no I told her she might want to consider the under ground like I have. My road runs the property line and my 3 and 6 year old walk it regularly with me. If her dogs cross they're fence and show any aggression toward me or my kids that won't be a problem anymore. I would like to hear from one of the Leo's on here about the shooting near a house. I read I can I need to know for sure.

Just because they are not putting a fence up doesn't mean they won't control their dogs. They may install the in-ground deal. A lot of people are talking of the negative things for you to tell them. It's their land and it seems as if you keep going over with demands they gonna tell you to f-off, I know I would. Why don't you let them build their house and only deal with issues as they come instead of creating tension? This. Sounds like you jumped the gun and ran over as soon as the land clearing started spouting off "rules" for them to follow. If they are building they are under enough stress without that crap. Good neighbors are worth their weight in gold and it sounds like youve already shot that to hell.

This is a tough situation.
Your plot and use of the land existed BEFORE they decided to build their house in its soon to be location, correct? You have a right use your property too.
Yet, they are using their land as they wish as well which is their right to do. But the side impact is that it is changing and restricting your use of the property.
Isn't there some legal precedent that considers established prior use of a property and how a new building on adjoining property cannot restrict or change use of the former property?
If I were you I'd consult a property attorney to see if you have any ground to challenge them. They have true right to build on their property, but in my mind I don't see that their right can restrict your rights that were established prior to their home building. But my mind ain't the answer.
I hope y'all can find a good solution to this before it becomes a hot mess.

I just got off the phone with a game and fish official and I can hunt up to the property line like I thought. Straycat I don't won't to get in that kind of pissing match. They can build on their property where they like but I can do as I feel like on mine as well. Looks like it will be turned into my dove field and skeet range. It will keep me from having too clean skeet out of the yard every time the in laws want to come shoot.

Why is it you think that just because you were there first that you can dictate to them? They bought their place and can do what they want and quite honestly you can't do a damn thing about it. You should have befriended these people first then get into discussions about hunting, etc..... You did it all backwards and instead of making the new neighbors feel welcome you have pissed them off. Have fun with that.

I would find someone on facebook who is giving away pallets and all the junk tin I coulnd buy. then start building, when she asks, tell them you are going into the hog business. maybe they will move. if not, go ahead and fire up the hog farm.
Your reading that rule wrong man, you would have to be the landowner of the property her house is on. (I think) Read post above you the lieutenant gw told me I was correct.
