Another vote for the original Ezell's. Best slaw, too.

With all these polls, it hit me again why I'm pushing 300#.

Let's just settle on Ezell's in the middle of nowhere. And the slaw is amazing there!

Don't laugh but the Winn Dixie deli has some damn good fried catfish. IMO of course.

Cracker Barrel has great fried catfish

Years ago when I lived up near Locust Fork, in Blount County, we used to go to a place called Shaw's up in Holly Pond. They always had some damn fine catfish and hushpuppies. Been years since I've been through that area, not even sure if they're still open or even worth a chit.

The Original Ezell's ain't too bad and everyone was right about the location.
Physical location is in Lavaca but it still falls within the Butler zip code I guess.

Dixie Shack in Atmore but I like David's too. Them cheese grits was hard to pass up.

I almost got taken out by a runaway Barge down there in Lavaca one night. River was up and the barge clipped that tree that was on the north corner of the back porch. Water was up a good ways after a rain cause that tree is usually about 20 feet or more from the river.

They are no longer open. Remember them well. My favorite catfish comes from Top Hat BBQ in Blount Springs.
