Had some grunting going on around 100 yards or so from me. Think it was a deer, but it could have been a hog. Last sit in am. Hopeing for a better turn out.

I got to say I have never really hunted terrain like this with all swampland and palmettos. I haven't found any kind of trials, but have found a lot of dang good sighn. It's all new to me and a lot of walking, but it's all flat ground. I have prob walked somewhere around 7 miles in the las two days hunting and scouting. But we have seen game and have a had a great time with a best friend and my dad so I can't complain any.

Thats how lowndes is (flat and thick as all get out). I have hunted there on and off for several years. Trails dont seems to be used very much. The deer and hogs just wander from place to place. Find a tree that the acorns are being eaten from (there are some trees full and dropping but the deer dont or wont eat them) and get the wind right and just wait. It sounds like you have been in the right area(s). Rabbit hunters ar a pain. Its always better when you are seeing some game. tomorrow am should be a great am sit. Good luck.

Keith

Well last morning here. I had a doe come in at 47 yards and locked up, wind is swirling a little she must have smelt me. She never spooked just put her nose in the air locked up for about 3 min. And turned and went the other way. If I would had a rifle I could have done killed a good buck and a doe. They sound like a truck walking through these palmettos.

Daniel,

Sorry I didn't make it down. The hog business kept me tied up. My family is planning a trip down next weekend. If you decide to come back give me a hollar in advance. Maybe we can make up a good crowd and trip.

No problem man, thanks for talking with me, we had a blast. Wen didn't physically see any hogs, but we heard them and found a ton of sign. I saw 4 deer while hunting and 9 deer on the side of the roads while going in and coming out of the woods in the dark. We went over past checking station on Henderson Rd and found a ton of deer sign, but not much hog sign. Prairie Creek is a great camp ground, we will be going back down on a rifle hunt. We done some more scouting today for the next trip. I seen more deer on this trip and hog sign than on any other WMA hunt I ever been on. Don't be fooled though we had to put in a lot of foot work probably averaged 3 to 4 miles a day just scouting, I heard hogs, but couldn't get on them, but I absolutely enjoyed it. Any time I can hunt with Dad is a great time.

There was some people there, but not to bad. I think mainly small game hunters.
