I have a kubota 3240, 4x4 with loader its 32 hp .I want a new disc/harrow and not sure how big of one to get....I'm looking at a Land Pride 6' heavy duty model number DH1572 it has 20 18" cutting discs and weighs in at 720 pounds ....but I'm getting mixed answers as to it being to much disc for my tractor to handle.
I would like to hear it from some of you more experienced folks ...
Is the 6' one the right size or do I need a smaller one..??

It will pull it, but, you would need to be careful on turns.

My Atlas disc is about the same weight I think and it is a little heavy for my older 40 hp JD.

That will be loading it up pretty good but with the 4x4 & loader on the front for weight it should pull it fine. If you have been bush hogging, make sure the screen in front of the radiator is clean & your full of coolant so you won't run it hot pulling that load. I have a little L2350 & I constantly keep it overloaded with a 5' cutter, a 16x18 disc, & a 5' tiller but I keep the fluids checked/changed & it has held up well for many years.

I had a L3240 HST. I wouldn't want to have pulled a heavy duty 6' disc with it. I can't answer if your tractor is geared and not hydrostatic. It pulled a HD 5' with mine and it was all it wanted in soft ground.

I have a 38 hp Kubota 4wd with loader, and pull a 5' disk (16 - 18" blades), and as stated above it is plenty for my tractor.

I could pull a bigger one, but it would be pushing things.

IMO you need smaller. 4-5' max, then weight it down if needed.

I pull a six ft disc and bush hog with my mf 33 hp.

I have a 27hp Kubota with 4wd and bucket. A 5 ft heavy duty disk is a little much for it. It will handle it but no way it could handle a 6 ft.

Too big unless you have really sandy soil and flat ground.

Some of y'all have different experiences with your setups than I do. I have a 33hp 2WD Yanmar and pull a heavy Leinbach 5 foot 16x18 with no problem. It's in the 700lb range. Another thing is I don't believe in adding weight to a disc. They are designed and built to carry their own weight, while under stress/load from being pulled thru soil. You can get by with adding weight for a while but at some point you'll break bearing mounts, disc blades, etc. I ruined 2 old discs this way before I bought one that was heavy enough by itself to do what I need done.

IMHO, you would be just fine with a heavy 5 foot 16x18 or 20x18

ck the kubota forum on tractorbynet and see if anyone who owns that model has any suggestions.

The kubotas in the same hp size was about 800 lbs lighter than the mf. So it won't get as much pull to the ground.

I feel your putting too much stress and strain on the tractor with that big of a disc. Not that it WON'T pull it, but it's much like our bodies, you'll end up paying for it in a short time.

From what I read, the recommended weight for up to a 40 HP Kubota is a 575 lb disc with looks to have minimal offset.

The more the offset, the more HP is used to pull it. Some say 10HP per foot of offset for a double gang. So a 6 foot double gang offset would be a 60 HP tractor.

I have a 6 ft heavy duty adjustable disc and I pull it all day long in the soft Monroe co. dirt with my old 3600 ford. At home I pull it with a 22 hp yanmar 2wd. Had to add weight to front of yanmar to keep front down on turns, but pulls it ok.

Tufline model THE71618BF 659#'s and 5'6" cut. It'll be plenty for your tractor but not too much. Check your PM by the way.

I used to pull a 6' heavy disk with an old ford 2000, it would spin out every now and again. I'd have to lift it up to get it started again, it was kinda a pain.
I'd say 5' would actually dig and cut better with your tractor.
