More power to them! They fight for YOUR freedom and can't have a beer responsibly? I've been Active Duty for over 19 years now have had a couple of drinks in uniform and I'll do it again. Hell, just this past Monday I did a shot while in full dress uniform for a toast at my buddy's funeral. Does that make me a piece of shat?? SMH....

Totally disagree. If you are in an airport in uniform it means you are traveling on orders and you are on duty. You have no business drinking while on duty especially in a public place. I spent 24 years on active duty, retired in 2006.

I have been to a lot of AF bases and the only ones we were not allowed to wear BDU/ABU off base was when we were in countries with a high terrorist risk.

Police, Military, Firemen etc, have no business drinking in uniform PERIOD, in public. It shouldn't even be up for debate.

Sooooo.....were the only 2 Customs employees in Chuuk in 1993 OK since they were just smoking a joint and not drinking? They were in uniform. But they worked for the guvment of Chuuk also laugh

I firmly believe that a double gallows should be constructed on the East Lawn of The White House. Politicians who willfully and shamelessly violate their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America should be swiftly tried and, upon conviction, publicly hanged at sunup the day after conviction. If multiple convicts are to be hanged they can choose with whom to share the gallows or names shall be drawn from the hangman's hat to be hanged 2 at a time.

An interesting item that is somewhat related to the original subject. The Chicago Police Contract allows them to have two normal sized beers, while in uniform, on their lunch breaks, in a restaurant while working.

I learned this from the FOP lawyer that negotiated the contract for them at Northwestern University's Police Staff and Command School.

I remember this because it didn't set well with me.

Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

Nope!!!! Not everybody in unions are liberals. I'm union because it protects me from asshole bosses that think their shucks don't stink! Yes the union does protect the lazy ones but also protects others. Not all unions are like the UAW. Management has to agree on the contract also.

Apparently the Arbitrator didn't think drinking and smoking dope while on the job was a serious enough offense for firing.

The arbitrator was made aware of all the details and evidence, and he heard the arguments from both sides. His decision was not based solely on a short video clip and comments from a news reporter.

youre freakin kidding right? I saw the dang video..they were drinking and smoking pot...a month or two later they caught more. Thats BS..you did it working for me and your freakin fired. Thats why unions suck...you cant get rid of employeses for hardly any reason!

Would you want them working for you?

I don't know the men, and I don't have access to all the details of what actually took place. All I've seen is what was posted above, which is very little.

Company owners and their managers do all the hiring in a union shop. Maybe the mangers who hired these people should be fired for not screening the applicants carefully enough before they hired them, or maybe not.

Like I said earlier, the neutral arbitrator had access to all the information needed to make an informed decision and we don't.

what a crock of union lovin BS 49er. I saw the video on tv twice. I saw them caught and hiding their faces and driving off. They were guilty as heck..period!

Shouldn't the union members be allowed to decide for themselves how their money is used?

If their money can be used outside the workplace to increase their job security, why would it be in the interest of the public to prohibit it. Business owners and managers certainly are allowed to use money to influence politicians and such.

my friend has been a trucker for ABF for 28 years. Hes a gun toting republican and HATES that his union dues goes to back anti gun dems like the POS running the country right now! he has NO SAY where his dues go!

He better be glad none of it is going to the republicans in our state legislature then. They own a 36 page bill of gun control that passed during the last session of the Alabama Legislature.

I think there may have been one lone democrat who voted for it.

Young'uns don't understand that America is made up of very diverse cultures and people who have very different ideas of what "normal" is.

Drinking is not near as taboo in some cultures within our country as it is in others.

Some of the things we accept as normal in the South seem just as ridiculous to people in other cultures in our country.

Have you seen the video eddie? I have..they were smoking pot and drinking beer and whiskey. It was pretty clear to see...and NOONE with two eyes could deny it. Especially when they covered their faces and ran like little kids when caught.
If you havent seen it ..then why are you talking about something you know nothing about..other then wanting to argue about every freakin thing!

They were clearly in the wrong..you could tell by their reaction when the reporter went right up to their windows after filming them for a while. Its fact...they were smoking pot and drinking!
I saw the pipe in their hands and them smoking..I saw them chugging beer from cans.

Freakin ridiculous..you just blindly defend people who were in the wrong for arguing sake.

If youve never seen the video then why argue. Go view it and tell me then ok?

and just for your information..video evidence is very widely used and highly productive in courts of law. I used to use it frequently, in both civil and criminal courts...hundreds of times.

Yes, I saw the video.

The video that was edited and aired by a biased tv reporter.

Like I said, I reserve judgment until I know all the facts and see all the evidence.

The arbitrator saw all the evidence and had all the facts when he made his ruling. That in itself leads me to believe there is more to the story than meets the eyes in a short, edited video that was aired on tv and followed by comments from a biased reporter.

So normal to you is buying a car manufactured by high/drunk employees?? What about injuries suffered from impairment???

Sounds like you are defending the actions of the POS workers

ok..so it was water in the beer cans and tobacco in the pipes and joints? you really believe that? really? come on man...you are ruining your credibility on this one.

Just blindly defending a union...(not even yours) when the members were clearly in the wrong? That is ridiculous.
