5 years old, it needs to be changed. If you shoot a lot, it should be changed yearly. If you pull your bow out a month before season, run a hundred arrows through it and put it up once gun season starts maybe 3 years. You have to remember that even though the bow isn't being shot, the string and cable are constantly under tension. Even though a string or cable may look fine, there may be strands breaking under the serving.

The MQ1 I bought new in '99 got a new string 2 years ago. I changed it then cause I was going to CO for an elk hunt. I shoot to get ready for deer season. I'm not a competitive shooter.
