Congrats. That'll be some great eating. I hope I can get back out West and get my first one. What subspecies is it?

Ok, that doesn't look near as bad as I had pictured it Not bad at all due to kill location. The day before, I was 5 miles in and real close to popping one, cow busted me and that ended quick. Kinda glad since this guy was a lot closer to the gate. From gathering buddies, packs, cleaning the elk, and packing out to the rigs, 4 hours and 45 minutes.

Awesome. Must be nice being that close to that type of hunting. It is. From my house to the gate I parked at to bike in y'day, 1.7 miles. I use 3 gates, that one, another about 8 miles away and the 3rd gate is probably 15 miles.

Congrats! I always wanted to get an elk. Maybe someday.
I firmly believe that a double gallows should be constructed on the East Lawn of The White House. Politicians who willfully and shamelessly violate their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America should be swiftly tried and, upon conviction, publicly hanged at sunup the day after conviction. If multiple convicts are to be hanged they can choose with whom to share the gallows or names shall be drawn from the hangman's hat to be hanged 2 at a time.
