Ran to the camp to have myself a a quite evening alone and check cameras in the morning. Pulled up to the camphouse right at dark, got out of my truck and noticed the rubber mat at the end of the steps got flipped over so I reach down and grab it to flip it back and snakes start rattling! I see two young ones hauling ass away from me and spot their mom (about a 4 footer) laying against the underpinning on my little camphouse right next to the steps, rattling! Grab my .380 out of the console and cant see the sights because its almost dark, but fired three at the big one as she was slithering under the underpinning. I've seen photos the last two weeks of people killing females with up to 18 young ones in them and I'm freaking out wondering how many and where they all are in the ankle tall grass around my feet!

I know some of you guys would have stayed there and never been worried, but I was scarred as a kid when I saw that episode of the Rifleman; when he was on the trail alone and the rattler crawled in his sleeping bag with him and he laid there for days with than damn snake crawling all over him! I drove my ass the hour and a half back home!

So now, what can I do to get them out of there, and keep them out? It's a 12X28 finished storage building with underpinning. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

The nuclear option is the only viable solution at this point. Or, buy a mongoose.

A buddy of mine in Texas had a small ranch out there with a small house he fixed up on it. He had a den of them under it! You could jump up and down in the house and hear them rattling under your feet! Any morning it got above 55 or 60 one or two would be laid out on the sidewalk sunning. He finally called an extermination co. to get rid of them. I don't remember the number, but it was a ton of snakes they pulled out. May try that if the problem continues.

Smoke em out and have a shotgun handy. Then throw a couple ponds of mothballs under there. That or go by the pound and get you about five cats and dump em out. They will run them off.

They will run off snakes and keep them away. If you lose a few to snakebites that's just a plus !

I would catch them and sell them to a snake guy that buys them. Snakes dont scare me. i reach down grab them behind the head and put them in a bucket. or you can kill them and skin them. remember stay calm and dont lose ur head and you wont get bit. most of my buddies say im crazy but been catching them my whole life so its no big deal to me.the moth balls work somtimes. And propane will drive them out of holes.

Rat shot instead of solid lead from the gun next time will help. Most of the time they will not leave until their food source is gone. Seems like the shed with underpinning may have been a nesting area for mice that they are feeding on. Also the snakes like areas they can get into that are dark-underpinned area again fits this-and feel protected. Take the underpinning off and hope for the best. Just make sure that you have a gun handy to take care of the ones you see when you take it off.

You are setting yourself up for a snake bite son. No two ways around it. Just remember that I told you so. This will be my advice-just take a gun and shoot em'. Snakes are nothing to play with.

Prayers sent. You are living my nightmares. Have they been there in years past? If not this seems to be the time of year they are really on the move and hopefully they will be gone soon. I would ask every snake lover on here if they want to go catch some and twll them where it is. It can't hurt to send some people to look for them. If they find them everywhere u may have a problem but atleast some will be removed. If they don't find any maybe the problem has fixed its self but I would also get a few cats to leave there

I've heard all my life that you can throw a bunch of moth balls under a building and they will run the snakes off, don't know if it works for sure tho.
