I saw a "Southern Marsh" decal the other day and wondered what would happen if Southern Marsh merged with Salt Life.

Pink Yeti coolers?

Yep, my wife bought a Salt Life Visor a month or so ago. Every time she wears it, I think of all these goobers and giggle like heck. She is beginning to get pist off and still hasn't figured out why I do it.

My wife brought me a salt life t-shirt back from the beach. I put it deep down in the t-shirt drawer in hope she forgets about it.

I guess I'm outside the loop on Salt Life definitions...what does it mean now?

My salt life consists of table salt on my food.

Do a search, that's what I did when a guy I work with had a sticker on his back window. LOL!

I don't get what's wrong with the Salt Life stuff. I own a couple of Salt Life t-shirts and my wife has a salt life sticker on her car. The reason being is we love the beach. My in-laws have a beach front place that we get down to every few months. There's no place we'd rather be. Everytime I see a salt life shirt it just reminds me of simpler days. I read a post/blog or whatever from someone that wrote it a few years ago that put perfect on what Salt Life really is. People could learn a lot from living this way.

"While we were in Florida this past weekend, I saw this phrase “Salt Life,” on t-shirts, bumper stickers, and etched onto windows. I looked up the phrase and as would make sense it’s a beach gear company but to me, it means something a little bit different.

If you read my post from yesterday, you know why I wanted to go to Florida and why I needed it to be a good weekend (fortunately it turned out to be a great weekend – more details on that coming soon). As I spent 48 hours straight with my cousins, Aunts and Uncles, many of whom I haven’t seen in years, I observed a few things about myself that I don’t totally love:

*I take life too seriously. I know that it was a special occasion but my family and their friends were so easy going, didn’t get hives when they talk about work and just seemed happier, laidback, go with the flow.

* Having a good time isn’t a reward for a completed work week but instead is a way of life. They laugh more. They smile more. They party more. They scream songs at the top of their lungs more. They hug and take pictures more. Taking a personal day doesn’t make them feel guilty, ignoring work for a few more days isn’t an issue and enjoying life is paramount.

When I saw the phrase “Salt Life,” I decided to use it as a my new personal mantra. I’m going to start seasoning my life more with positive experiences, people, events. I’m going to reconnect with myself and the things that make me happy. I’m going to live full of hope and energy for I know that I have a lot to offer to friends, employers, family, a new man (when the time comes). I;m going to work smarter, not harder so that I don’t get so drained at the end of the work week. I’m not going to equate my life with my job. I’m going to work hard for the next 18 months to save money, add to my resume and then perhaps find a job in the great Sunshine State so I can live and breath the Salt Life."

If voting made any difference, they wouldn’t let us do it.-Mark Twain

There's nothing wrong with it or they wouldn't sell millions of shirts, stickers, hats, other merchandise. I wish I'd a come up with it. I think what a lot of folks snicker about are folks 2-500 miles inland that go to the beach one wknd a year at best but have the salt life sticker like they are old salties themselves. It's like motorcycle gangs that think they are 1% er's on the wknds but are actually partner's at the office of Goldman, Fienstein Hearse & Houser the other 5 days. I just doesn't add up. White kids from Homewood who think they truly are gang bangers, etc, etc.
Ole Fairwater and folks like him are Salt Lifers. They don't need to wear a shirt or sticker to let you know. Look at the crows feet from squinting at the glare on the water and leathered back and arms from decades of weather abuse.

I just think it is lime any other "cool" clothes. People buy it because they think it is cool. It is like all the guys wearing Columbia fishing shirts that don't even own a rod.

Ford150man that sounds like a great plan and I wish you well.

I'm a coastal man myself and I hate living 165 miles inland. My wife and I are very fortunate to get to go to the beach as much as we do.

Both of my parents as well as all of our family was born and raised on the coast. One side in Florida and the other in Louisiana. So you can see why I want to be there as often as I can.

The reason I don't wear their gear is it costed to much and I ain't going to get fish guts and slime on a thirty dollar t shirt. When I go fishin I think most folks look at me and think I'm homeless.

Now if it costed under ten dollars and has salt life on it I'll buy it and so be it.

My wife just bought some fancy fishin shorts and shirts that were on sell at academy last week cause she said my old ones still stunk after they were washed. I never noticed this I thought it was just the live bait well.

Now I know I am always picking on my coonass kinfolk on here but let me tell y'all something they damn sure " ain't wurrin bout nuthin" and know how to have a good time even though they smell like corn dogs. grin
