I'm thinking strongly about purchasing a F-250 or Chevy 2500 HD. I have buddies that own both. I like both trucks however the Ford seems to have more room, looks better and the interior seems better made. I know the 2011 6.7 in the F-250 had turbo issues when they first hit the market. I also read where the guys that were chipping and deleting had issues as well. I plan to run the truck stock like it came from the factory. This would be my first time to own a diesel. I can get the Ford out the door $2500 cheaper than the Chevy. The Ford has everything I need on the truck. I would have to add a few things to the Chevy resulting in more cost. My main concern is getting a dependable truck that will last. At the sales price I will need to get 10 years out of it. Most of the trucks life will be spent on the interstate but I will do some hauling from time to time. I have around 7000 lb of farm equipment that I will haul on a 25' goose neck trailer during fall and spring planting. Most of the hauling will be from Alabama to Southern Illinois.
I have about talked myself out of buying a truck several times because of the unknowns with owning a diesel. I know fuel is more expensive and the preventive maintenance is more than a gas burner. Is there anything else I need to consider?

The new diesel that ford has out is a beast! We have several of them in our trucks. And one is a '13 with 75,000 miles already and it is the 350. It is used as a quick pick tow truck. That truck will fly and laughs at heavy loads. We haven't had to do anything besides change the oil and put fuel in it.

The motor in the new F250's is made by the same bunch that made the 7.3 which is the best ever made. The whole problem with the 6.0 and 6.4 was they changed who made them. They have gotten away from that bunch and are back with a dependable bunch. If it was me it be would be between the new F250 and a Dodge with the Cummings.

I own a '03 2500HD. I like mine. My uncle has an '11 2500HD. That thing is better than mine. It has more power and better MPG. I'd get the GM 2500HD.

I'd buy an older f250 with the 7.3 for when you're gonna pull and get a Ford fiesta for your traveling!

Mike sounds like you have your mind made up but are a little leery from past news of there diesels. Yeah I am a little leery. I've never owned a Ford or a diesel. I just like the looks of the new fords vs the new Chevy. I know the Durmax and the Allasion trany are proven in Chevy and that's very attractive. My buddies that own a 2012 & 2013 Ford love them. However they don't have many miles on the truck. I know my buddies 2012 pulled my equipment from Dallas Cty to Hopkinsville, KY and you could hardly tell we were pulling anything. I might just keep the 4Runner

FORD. As long as its not the 6.0 get it while you can. Chevy can't hold a candle to it.

I don't know much about the 6.7, it has been said already, since the 7.3 ford has not had a good diesel. I would be leery on the 6.7 until it was around a little longer. If it was me I would get a Cummins.

I drive fords at work and they seem durable. I pull 12000 pound trailers everywhere.
