Where are Costas made? How can you tell a fake? I was in an eyeglass store a minute ago and saw China or Taiwan on several of the frames. I have a pair of Costas, but I don't know if they ever had anything on the frame that might be worn off now. Anyone know?

I have 2 pair, Brine and Triple tail and both say made in Taiwan. Often wonder if the frames were made over seas but the lens were made in USA.

My Harpoons say Mauritius, which is a little island off of Africa's west coast.

Ok, mine says that on the other side. Was wondering what that was/meant?

Okay, I went back and saw Mauritas, China, Taiwan, and some with a U.S. patent number....my Harpoons don't say anything unless it is rubbed off...I got some Fisch that say Taiwan and some Zanes that say China...maybe one of them are real...either way they were free.

I'm not buying them anymore. Poor warranty.

foldempup, if you're looking at the ones with the 580 lenses, there is something about the 580 etched on the lense that looks different on the fakes, or at least that's what a Costa dealer told me. I don't have mine on my head right now, if I did I would look and see what it is. It's either that you can't see the 580 from the backside of the lense on the real ones, or something like that.

I've had 2 pairs and I love them, but like N2TRKYS I don't think I am going to buy another pair. The silicone rubber stuff on the frames doesn't like my body chemistry. It ends up turning to sticky gum and falling off. I finally tore the rubber nose pad off my Man O Wars a few weeks back because the sticky stuff was getting on the lenses and it was almost impossible to get off.

I won't be going back to Strike King polarized but I will try another higher end polarized glasses.

Besides, I started wearing Costa's before Costa's were cool. Now almost e'rybody wears em. Time for me to find something else so I will continue my trend of not doing what the cool kids do.

If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14
