I am trying to learn to gather some information about the Red Hills area in Monroe County. How is the deer density and is the genetics decent? I am interested in a 1500 acre lease real close the the Forever Wild Red Hills tract. I have been in the area before about 30 years ago and from what I remember it is really hilly and looked like it might be pretty hard to hunt.

if you like mountain climbing, go for it...I made my first trip up there last week to turkey hunt...there are some bottoms in there that you might not ever come out of if you get down in them...my brother-in-law has deer hunted the upper tract a few times and has seen plenty of deer, just nothing that was worth trying to drag out of there
I once flirted with danger...but then danger got clingy.

I use to be in a club in that area when i lived in Monroeville. Low deer numbers. Seemed to be high in turkey numbers. Lots of hardwoods, due to the red hill salamander. I limited out every year i was in it. Monroe County is loaded with turkeys. If you can't kill one there, you may want to find a different hobby. Hate i had to relocate.

Good hunting, very remote and very hilly. Great ATV riding on the dirt road network.

I was in that club about 20 years ago. When I first got in the club we killed some great deer. We had dog hunting all around us and they pushed the big bucks onto us. When they quit dog hunting around us the hunting deteriorated. Great turkey hunting and beautiful woods. Nice camphouse and camper area. Low to medium deer density with no agriculture around. If managed properly, it could be really good. It is hilly but not too bad. Lots of rattlesnakes. Hunt the white rocks about a mile up the tracks from where the dirt road crosses flat creek. PM me if you get in and I'll tell you what used to be the hot spots. One negative, a guy owns 40 acres right in the center of the property and it's hunted hard.
