Something to think about if you are not too close to an agricultural area. These are a nuisance for crop farming, but have great benefits for wildlife, check out the comparison to other plants.

Is this what you meant to attach? http://edis.ifas.ufl.edu/

The web address you posted nor the one I posted are taking me to the link to the teaweed article.

Very interesting. Thanks for bringing the topic up. I would never have guessed it would be so attractive. Just type teaweed in the search bar on that website.

I had a Indian Hemp plot in Baldwin County a few years back that I posted pictures of.

News to me! Sounds like some good stuff that's easy to maintain. I wonder how it would effect say, brassicas or AWP during the fall. Anyone know of this stuff being on their property? I'd like to put it in a field and see what it would do.

No different than ragweed - more common here than teaweed. Teaweed tends to be a strong coastal/coastal plain plant. Regardless, this type of info is why I preach native plant management so strongly!! Another one in the coastal plain is Florida Pussley - Great weed!!

Sorry about posting the wrong link, here is the one I meant to post.

The only problem is finding the seed to plant if you wanted to establish some teaweed plots. The thing I really like is not only the protein and digestability, but the calcium and phosphorus levels are really high as well. Higher than Iron Clay peas, soybeans, and alfalfa.

looked at your website. What is seeding rate? Mixed with clover for a year round perennial plot, how would you control competition from undesireables?

I talked with him today. This is a native plant/weed but it's not considered invasive. He said that he developed his seed from patches in the wild that were really being hammered by the deer, so that he would hopefully come up with a very desirable native browse. He assured me the results have been very good. The deer are hammering their test plots. He recommended planting lanes or old roads, edges of plots etc., to start with so it's not incompetion with what you already have planted for fall plots, because he hasn't done enough study to see how well they will do planted together. Spread a smaller amount of seed over a larger area, and then let it fill in and spread after the firstyear.

purple ironweed grows great in low wet areas too, so if you got a place like that its something easy to put in.
