What is a Beretta Extrema II worth? I got the chance to get a almost new in the box one, but have no experience with them. Are they good guns?

Not real sure, will hopefully get to put my hands on it tonight. I read where it was a good multi-purpose gun ( light loads, up to heavy mags). I figure it can't kick anymore than the 835 does that I have now! I lost several guns due to a thief a few years back, and hoped that this would let me replace my dove, rabbit, and turkey gun that I had before all in one. Thanks, Heath

As fine an auto gun as ever been made. Slightly less recoil than the Benelli since it is gas operated as opposed to the inertia system of the benelli. Any where around a $1000 would be stealing it.

Less than 1000 is a steal. That gun is 5 times smoother than any Benelli.

Finest auto I've ever owned and there's not even a close 2nd place. I've never owned a Benelli though...I'm just a bigger fan of gas guns. You'll like it if you buy it.

I like mine shoots good and less recoil but i have had it click because the chamber didnt close all the way. It has a twist lock and if it gets dirty it will not close. can not shoot 31/2 after shooting 3" or 2 3/4 for the same reason. That is what I shoot...outstanding gun.

I used to shoot a lot of sporting clays with a club, the most commonly seen auto not working were berettas. At the state ahoots, they would have Beretta gun smiths on hand to repair guns that broke during the shoot. Benelli was showing off there latest gun, the Cordoba, there were 10:1 berettas being worked on than benellis. Granted they weren't the extrema ii, still a lot of them in the repair line. Most of their malfunctions were due to powder residue

Most of their malfunctions were due to powder residue Having to clean a gas system due to powder residue don't have anything to do with being broke. It's just inherent to the design. Yes, a Beretta will have to be cleaned more often than an inertia gun if you're planning to be one of those guys that shoots thousands of rounds per year, but your claim that they were breaking all the time is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. Do you a little searching around the web and you'll have zero problems finding lots of serious clay shooters with AL-2s, 301s, 302s, 303s, 390s, and 391s with over 10,000 rounds through them with never having done a thing to them except clean them and replace a few springs.

Just reporting what I saw, granted there were exponentially more berettas being used than benellis but the gun I saw diassembled most on golf carts and tables were Berettas while shooting all over the state over a period of 3 years. On the flip side, my hunting buddy bought 2 20 gauge Beretta and took them to Argentina last year AMD they performed flawlessly after.some porting to shoot those weak shells u have to use down there.

after.some porting to shoot those weak shells u have to use down there. I was gonna ask you if that issue had anything to do with any of it. The only complaint I've ever consistenly read with Berettas made in the last 40 years is that 3" guns will not cycle the lightest (7/8 oz. for 20 gauge and 1 oz. for 12 gauge) loads without a touch of modification. The 3" barrels are made for heavier shells and have to have one of the gas ports opened up just a touch to reliably cycle the absolute lightest of loads. The 2 3/4" guns don't have a problem with them because that's what they're designed around. I personally have zero desire to shoot a POS/el cheapo shell and have always used 1 1/8 oz. heavier dove loads for my limited clay shooting and dove shooting out of both Berettas, 1187's, and even a Mossberg 935 for that matter. No problems whatsoever out of any of those gas guns.

With the quantity of shells being shot to stay in "shape " for shooting competitively, I wouldn't doubt they were skimping on shell quality. Which would lead to a nasty'er burning shell and less ummmmffff for ejection. Both of which would contribute to a hung or non extraction.
