Who wears their orange while in a treestand and who takes it off?

I wear it. DEER dont notice but it helps keep others from walking under your stand without having to whistle at them.

I wear it just because I'm to lazy to take it off once I climb a tree.

Studys are only 50/50 on rather deer notice orange. Once I'm up a tree, the orange comes off.

My orange comes off also. Only wear a vest and it can get noisy in the stand.

I used to wear my lucky one the whole time I hunted. I never noticed the deer seeing the hat but you never know if some of them saw it from a distance and turned tail. Somehow my lucky orange hat ended up in the floorboard of my truck when I was hunting one day and my arsehole buddy stepped in something and got it all over my hat and it wouldn't come out so I had to retire it. Now I just take my hat off and shove it down in my jacket when I hunt out of a tree.

it really depends on what terrain I am hunting,if I am on the side of the mountain with a lot of hill above me to where someone could come in above me I will leave it on,if I am on top or hunting the bottom's I will take it off.

I would rather be turkey hunting

If I hunt on private land then I take it off. WMA or Corps land, then I wear it and put on a little extra.

I hunt our own land which has very little human activity. I take the orange off because while research has proven that deer CANNOT see orange because they do not have red receptors in their eyes (only blue and green with an extra sensativity to ultraviolet), they can easily see large, solid, no camo areas. I carry a camo ball cap with me in my bag. I switch orange for camo while in the stand, then switch back when I'm on the ground.

First time ever went gun hunting in Kentucky I hated the fact you had to wear an orange vest and hat. After the fist hour sounding like WWIII I wished I'd had a pair of pants to go with it. I bought an orange fleece jacket to wear as my top layer and wore it all week. One afternoon I had 25 deer within 75yds of me huntin a ladder stand and not one showed any extra attention to me than they normally would. IMO they can't see it but i do normally take mine off when in the tree because I don't want anything/anybody to see me. It makes me feel better but I font think it matters one way or the other with deer.

If your decoy doesnt have holes in it, your not letting him get close enough... J.H.

They can't see it. Killed a doe during bow season that walked up on me at 5 steps. I was wearing my orange watch-cap and standing up. She never saw me.

Coyotes can't see it either. Had one come up a hill and stop within 10 yards of me looking straight at me. I was standing in the wide open. He didn't get squirrely til he crossed where I walked.

My orange keeps my noggin warm so on cold days, on, on warm days, off. If on public land, on.
