Bon Secour, Bayou LaBatre, Coden are some that stand out local to me. They are great places and sometimes I wish I lived in one of them.

I've been to Elba.....It seems back a few years and somewhat disconnected from the development of cities local to that area. I never believed in inbreeding in Alabama before then either. People there seem to have a chip on their shoulder for anyone from anywhere else.

A Buddy of mine hunts near Smuteye and he says it's way back.

I have heard of LickSkillet and heard it to be nice backwoods like. Screamer is between Abbeville and Eufaula and I have heard rumor of how it got it's name........Uhh, I hope not.

Where is the Most Backwoods Place You have ever Been in Alabama.

I've been in a lot of 'backwoods' including all that you mentioned.

As far as namesake...Scratch Ankle comes to mind.

There are parts of Lawrence Co. That is as "backwoods" as it gets. And they have to pump sunshine into some places around Reform, AL.

I have been all over Walker and Winston County. If that isn't backwoods, I don't know what it.

Lower Peach Tree. The natives can get restless, if you know what I mean.

My boys play HS Football. After away games my wife and I listen to the score updates on the radio on the way home.

There is a place called Sweetwater somewhere on the west side of the state. They have a 1 or 2A football team that will put a BIG number on many teams several classes up. I have heard things like 63-0 at Halftime and 3 years no losses. Incredible football program. Over the years I have asked how they do it and I have been told every male student tries to get on the football team. That is Unreal and not like most any other place in Alabama.

I wish I had a picture of the road signs. They are literally shot to pieces. My family owns some land there.

Sweetwater isn't really backwoods. It is just little and dark. I consider backwoods the type place where people never leave, there are no highways in or out and over half the people are living without running water or power. You know the houses that you can see light through the cracks in the walls at night.

True that. I went to school with some Grittney and Alma residents. Two sisters, both had 6 toes on each foot.
