Who hunts out there? Killed anything this year or heard of anything killed from the first gun hunt? Also I wish they still had the Cahaba web site up?
If Chas Moore is here would you please PM me I would like to talk about dog hunters on the CRWMA.

i know there has been some studs killed off of it. But from what I've been told you have to figure them out to find them. Ive got a buddy that kills atleast 1 or 2 good (115"-140")deer out there everyear. He's been hunting it for a long time and is really in-tune with deer activity. All I could say is put your time in walking and scouting and you can kill you a good one. Good Luck.

Yes you can use them to hunt small game. But when you see the 2 guys and hear dogs running in the woods and the 2 guys take off right after you pass them then they are running deer! I have talked to others who have seen these 2 guys doing the same thing.
I have killed several does and a nice buck last year on the WB side. I posted the pic last year!

I was wondering the same thing. It was a good site. I actually met a guy that hunts over here on the Blocton side and we shared some ideas and such.

I heard at check in station that site was ran by someone not affiliated with the management area and made to shutdown. Guy was doing it for free. Wish they would've left it alone. And the dog hunting the mma happens alot. Especially the dirt road on blocton side.

There are dog hunting clubs in the area of blocton, maybe they travel to and fro from there hunting clubs. I have seen the same thing with folks riding on the WMA. I doubt they "hunt" on the WMA! But I have seencrazier things

I've hunted the Cahaba River WMA a good bit during bow season but only twice during gun season over the past 3 years. Anybody have a good idea of when the rut hits at that place.

i know the man that ran it. He is an old family friend that I talk to a few times a year. Ill get with him and find out why he shut it down and if he could get it going again. I enjoyed checking it out too.

Be sure and tell him we appreciated what he was doing, even if it wasn't known.

it was helpful for updates on the shooting range too when the gas company was in there doing all that work and had the range shut down.
