Most: Union county KY. Saw 43 one morning. Least: Southwest Jefferson co. Hunted in a club 3 seasons and only saw 1 spike. I cant make myself join that club again but every year there is atleast 1 bruiser killed off that property. If you have the patience to go weeks at a time without seeing deer you could possibly kill a giant. I first taking my son with me and it was hard keepin him interested going there.
If your decoy doesnt have holes in it, your not letting him get close enough... J.H.

You ain't joking. When I was a kid. I had the opportunity to hunt the Bryar place a few times as well as Henry Pickens, Mosquito and Clements Bend. Nicky Cobb's etc. When Sykes Martin had all that planted in soybeans, you had to dodge deer on that road from the blacktop to river. All ended when Drummond fenced it in. Used to love seeing deer cross on the road on the way to dads camphouse. He hit several, or they hit him over the years. When I was about 7 or 8, warden Farquar took me shining on the Cattle Ranch so we me and another boy could see some bucks. Was legal back then. Great memories or that place including a pair or biggest outlaws ever lived. You know who I'm talking about.[

It's all about pressure. I hunted a spot right here in Chelsea a year or two ago that had so many deer coming in and out of the food plot, I couldn't keep track of them. I counted 14 in the field at one time. That didn't include the ones pooring in or out.
The least amount was a club I was in down in Dallas Co., about three years after all the doe killing started.

They purchased the pasture land that started at the black top,Obie Coleman's, Bryars, went around Pickens little tract and all the way on that side of the road to Clements bend gate. All the woodlands back around the river to the cattle ranch. Not sure how much is there. guess 2000 to 3000 acres. The camphouse access is off the cattle ranch road. Built a couple world class bass lakes. Whacked about 150 does a year for three years to get the ratio to 2 to 1 or less. They grow some sure enough swamp daddy's on that ground now. There used to be a brick house at the entrance road that I lived in for two years before Drummond bought the place from Emmett Hildreth. Morons removing wall paper with a torch burned it to the ground. I believe it was 3000 acres at that time. Dale Earnhart and Neil Bonnett used to stay at my house when Bo Brady leased the hunting rights from Emmett. Good times then....

Most Pickens co. In the late 90's I got to hunt in a club called The Sweet 16 club. I hunted 3 or 4 times and saw more deer than I can remember.
Least Talladeaga National forest. I hunted there several years and the only saw a couple deer lterally that others killed.

In the early 70's we would call the game warden first and then go shine the big fields on the Alabama River west of Monroeville. If you didn't see at least 150 it was a bad night. You talking about the old Bedsole Farms?

I know the guy that used to watch over the Bedsole farm on the Alabama River in Monroe County. He lived behind the old Bedsole house. He went to work there back in the late 80's. He said when he first moved there you could see at least 100 deer every night in the fields there around the farm. He said you would be lucky if 1 deer out of those 100 deer had any horns. They have since that time really thinned the herd down drastically. For the life of me I do not know why the people in charge of managing the deer herd in this state are so slow to change and very seldom seem to make the right decisions when it comes to managing deer. One question why did it take so long to start shooting does to try to get the herd back in balance? Another is why leave the two does a day limit in for over 10 years now in most counties? An another IMO is we need to start tagging does like nearly every state does seems to work out well.
