They totaled out my 2003 Sierra, mainly because of the airbag deployment. Adjuster was nice guy and we talked about hunting more than the truck, but I loved that truck. Never had to change anything but the battery but now I am looking for a new vehicle and need some suggestions.
I dont want a Dodge, never been a big Ford fan but won't rule one out, like Toyotas but they are pricey. Probably gonna start haggling on some Silverado/Sierras that range from 2008-2011. Anything I should know about these newer ones before I get in too deep?

hate to hear that about your truck! i have a 2004 gmc sierra that has a messed up hood and bumber and valance, if you have any of those parts that are salvagable i'll buy them from you..sure sucks, wish i could fill ya in on the newer models but i have no idea.

How does the tailgate look??? Does it have the wide black molding on top of it? If my memory is correct from the pic you posted your truck is/was white? I had an oak tree jump out behind my truck at the club a few months ago.......

Looks great but doesn't function correctly because of a rust problem on one of the hinges. It stayed in the closed position while the adjuster was here

Sorry to hear that.. Congrats on getting a new one ? My dad had an 08. He had a lifter go out. Its was warrantied though. Other than that I haven't heard anything bad. My friend has a 12 eco boost F150 and it has been in the shop like 3 times already. I think he has about 20k on it. Good luck hope you find a good'un !

It wouldn't close until I fixed it with a cold chisel and hand sledge day before yesterday. In an occasion when a person isn't picky about how the vehicle looks, I'm a great body man.

The front end on the newer chevy's 4WD truck are crap. Mine was shot at 85K miles. Know of one that spent more time on dirt roads/woods than I do and his was shot at less than 40,000.

I used to work for Ford Motor Company and used to love our vehicles. I have changed and fallen in love with Toyota now. If you purchase a Toyota, you better choose a color that you like because you are going to look at it for a long time. They are "pricey" but they are worth it. My Crew Cab Tacoma with 6 speed trans will pull a battleship. Strongest pulling vehicle I have ever owned and it is a 6 cylinder. That sucker will go where my 4 wheeler won't. Can't say enough good stuff about them.

Runs about $1500 for control arms, bushings, ball joints,etc. One of my coworkers husband had to have his done and most of his miles are highway. The truck with less than 50,000 belonged to a logger so it was used pretty hard. Mine is an '08 and I put about 30K a year on it, a mix of highway and lots of dirt roads. Not a warranty item, considered "maintenance".
