Ok so Stage 1 of tear my land up is complete now. Rented a excavator and dug about 1500-1800 yds of dirt out for a pond, and really to fill in a low area of my pasture. I need some suggestions on the best way to move all this dirt about 100 yds max to right up to the pile. Dozer? 4wheel Loader? What? I have a skid steer but man a 1/2 yd but would take FOREVER!

At times my ambition far exceeds my talent.

Looks too wet for a loader. Get a D6 or larger, if possible.

I would think if you're moving it 100 yds a big loader would work better.

Dozer. JD850, D65 Kamatsu, International TD15, Cat D7, etc. Something in the 150-200HP range with 8 ft blade

Track loaders almost always have street pads. Moving this much dirt that far you need pads with cleats.

I firmly believe that a double gallows should be constructed on the East Lawn of The White House. Politicians who willfully and shamelessly violate their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America should be swiftly tried and, upon conviction, publicly hanged at sunup the day after conviction. If multiple convicts are to be hanged they can choose with whom to share the gallows or names shall be drawn from the hangman's hat to be hanged 2 at a time.

The dozier would be good to spread it with but a loader with a good size bucket would be better to move it with

Let them walk ...and grow them big

What does cleats have to do with scooping it up in the bucket for transport?

If you're gonna scoop and go with it, not much difference although he did say it was soft in the area where the dirt is. But, in all my years of moving dirt with loaders and dozers I have always been able to push more efficiently with a large dozer vs scoop and haul with a loader.. Possibly because the dozer on site was always a lot bigger than any loader on site.

Ok, traction in a pasture when transporting in the bucket, not pushing, got it.

The track loaders that I have seen also have more narrow tracks on them than dozers do. Narrow tracks equals a stuck machine much of the time.

Getting a big piece of equipment out of a stuck perdicament is a nightmare I wouldn't wish on anyone.

Ok I forgot to mention it really wet out here. So dozer or 4wheel loader?
