I've had a big problem with dogs for the last five years.They come from the valley chase deer all day will be laying in the yards when I come out in the evening.Most are peoples pets. We hunt a 5,000 acre block and the dogs are in the middle of it.They are along ways from home on these runs.Most of the land is cutover is thick cutover the dogs will hit the road and take it back home. Question I've had the thought of putting a pan of anti freeze on the side of the road in a couple places. Would this be a good or bad idea?

You have 3 choices:
a. SSS. If you know what that means.
b. Talk to the owners and see what kind of response you get.
c. Live with it and let it ruin your lease.

If b is selected and you get a beligerant response to your friendly request that they contain their dogs, see a.

Free ranging "pets" piss me off to no end. If you're gonna kill the dogs, shoot them. Don't poison them.

In the HEAD. If I had killed two pits last year on our property (which I didnt) they would have yelped horribly from not being head shot I bet.

If they let their dogs run loose, they dont give chit about em anyway, unfortunatly your only solution is to send em to be with the lord. I hate that cuz i love my dog, but it aint out running deer on a hunting lease. also unfortunately they will just replace it with another sooner, but when a couple of the dogs see there buddy's head explode, they soon learn not to go back that way.

I have had the same problem the past couple of years, but this one has been a pack of 9 wild dogs. It is hard though to get a shot at them. Thus far I think have got 7 of them, but there are a couple of new ones in the pack. Use any method you can to get rid of them, the fawns will thank you.

I just dont like the thought of shooting in the area i'm huntin.Thought about wiping them out in Feb.Talking to the owners would be a joke.Plus later down the road rover comes up missing I'd be the first they come to.You prob right cold trail animals have more rights than people these days.

Don't poison them, I watched my lab die over a 24 hour period from someone doing it. If you want them dead, at least make it fast. Call the county, supposed to be fenced or chain on their own property, they will serve a warning then next violation a ticket, 3 rd time they take them.

What you ask carries a fine of up to $3000.00 or 6 months in jail if you do it and are caught. Look up Alabama cruelty to animals laws.

timic kills 3x away...meaning dog eats timic, it dies...crow eats on dog, it dies...rat eats on crow, it dies. timic is BAD stuff and indescriminate.

Why is asking "what's illegal" worth $3000 n 6 months in jail. Crackheads and dealers don't even get that. As for killin a dog...prove that I wasn't protectiong one of my pets...burdon of proof is on prosecutor.

Be careful with timec ( aldicarb) that stuff can be absorbed through your skin and 3000$ wouldn't touch the fine you'd receive if you were caught with it. It's the most toxic chemical used as a pesticide by far, its scary how little is needed to kill something, it has the lowest LD-50 on a 20 page sheet I have on pesticides. I wouldn't touch it with a 10' pole for the potential trouble you might get in if you were caught.

DON'T use Timic. It's bad stuff.

The sound of a gun shot won't bother one thing in your hunting area. It may booger it up for that afternoon, or a 20 point buck might walk out in a shooting lane 5 seconds after the shot.
