Idk abou everbody else..but texas is correct..hand over fist..8 ways to sunday…where we were at..high fence or low..didnt matter..you were rockin deer per 2-5 acres…our ranch that was 4k acres high fenced..was averaging 1-1.75 per acre which is why at 22 stand locations…you would see 30-50 deer per sit…the sister ranch…which was dead in the heart of the golden triangle…the density was so high it would boggle the mind…like..2-4 deer per acre or higher in portions the overall 45k acres. We ttp(trap, tag, and process) 350 in one day…cannon netem with a helicopter shootem in the head with a 22 pistol..an load the carcasses on rangers an pickup trucks an transport them to a central location to gut…we had refrigerated trucks loading them up as fast as we killed them to be hauled back to san antonio to feed the homeless…we tried to kill them back with rifles…it did not work very well…too much work… an we coildnt tell a difference…corn a road..150 deer walk out…shootem til you run outa bullets or they just quit comin out of the brush…loadem up by the tractor bucket load…gut til like 4:00am in the mornin…do it again the next day…it turned into a nightmare😐…i didnt have a whole lot to do with the gun part of that operation…but we collectively killed like 2500 deer off 45k acres..and it has to be done about every 2-3 years…just to keepem in check

For sure there are a lot of deer in Texas. Funny thing is the whitetail thrive even with all of the exotics and hogs. plenty of good grub

IDK....maybe there was a time when Alabama would be in the top 10.
But idk about now.....maybe its just my personal experience, and that differs from most, or maybe it is property specific but my dad owns 300 acres in the heart of the blackbelt and there are days I sit out there and do not see one. 1-2 is about a normal hunt...5-6 is an action packed morning/afternoon.
Again, I might just be quantifying that with personal bias but I always thought Dallas county had been historically the high watermark for deer density in the state and if you take that as our T sampe then I could not imagine being in areas or states where there were any less deer.
The blackbelt has been overhunted for too long. No where near what it could be or what it use to be. Despite license sales and the supposed decline in hunters, the opportunity is becoming fewer and fewer.
