Pine Tree Syrup - Anyone every made some?

With as much crap as people on this site have done has anyone ever made this? Is it as bad as it sounds?

That's got to be slang for pine tree sap.... I never heard of consuming pine tree sap made into syrup.... it would absolutely have to make you ill.....

Does anyone besides me remember the 70's tv commercial with Euell Gibbons? Its the 1st thing that comes to mind when I opened this thread....
If you’re a Baby Boomer or older, you probably remember Euell Gibbons’ Grape Nuts commercials. He was famous for his tagline, “Ever Eat a Pine Tree?”
https://medium.com/the-haven/ever-eat-a-pine-tree-daefa41caea0 ........if you want to check out some of his work.....

Yep I remember him.... I've eaten pine nuts from the cones many times ,,,I couldn't really tell the difference from them and sunflower seeds... but I can't think of anything else edible coming from a pine tree....

Used to be a place in TN that boiled potatoes wrapped in aluminum foil in pine tar. Gave them a different taste but that was 50 years ago I may not be remembering right.

Yes, they did make Pine syrup and still do for some oddball things, but its really just the pre-cursor to making turpentine. You can find turpentine stills all over the southeast.

Would never have searched for something on this if not for this post, but apparently there's a syrup made from green pine cones called mugulio. Sugar is added to make the syrup, but it looked interesting.

Seems like there was a thread on this site once where someone bade a batch.

Every time I had ticks, cuts, burns, or chiggers my grandmother had to put Turpentine on it. Only thing I remember is that it burned on open wounds.

Hell, I didn't realize that turpentine was distilled pine syrup/sap. Learned something.

Guys that work at papermill told me that there are 27 different by products made out of pine sap . They squeeze it out to make paper . Sap is made into turpentine, glue an some kinds of chewing gum among other things
