Over here on Cedar creek with Mrs Nightwatchman this morning. Dead as a door nail. Not a single gobble. Made our way over about 1/2 units we’ve been assigned. Now we’re back at the truck fooling around. Gonna cover the other 1/2 our unit here in a few. Be careful with that fooling around on public land!!😁 I locked the gate behind me, but if we get caught it’s whatever lol. Me and her both pretty keyed up. First time we’ve been out without the kids in a hot min Way better than turkey hunting anyways!

Over here on Cedar creek with Mrs Nightwatchman this morning. Dead as a door nail. Not a single gobble. Made our way over about 1/2 units we’ve been assigned. No birthday bird for me today, again. 🙁 Yeah my birthday bird was a clean miss this year. I like to say I practiced catch and release so I could kill him again later, but he disappeared 4 days later never to return. Those birthday birds mean more. Maybe I can experience a birthday bird kill, so I’ll know the feeling. 🤣🤣

I was a rookie today. Drove in to sweetwater today - hav not had bird roost on me there all year - drove little further in and get there 5-10 min after gobble time - never do that but i got a bad attitude to going so long w out sitting down to one. Was going thru the motions. I get out and stand in truck door - crow - one hammers about 80 yards from me. I am at a perfect set up spot in road. Never had one gobble right there. I wanted to walk up 80 yards and set up on logging ramp - but was scared of getting pegged. I crowed one more time - gobble on 5 second delay. I backed truck up 80 yards - he never gobble again - i never turkey called to him. Hope he aint hurt
Was stupid to drive in that far - will set up in dark there n morning and park way earlier.

I’m going after a birthday gobbler tomorrow. First turkey I ever killed was on my birthday. Blew his beard to pieces, LOL

We get there and go where he says we need to be to listen. He owls a bit and asks as me to do and as I do a single turkey busts off the ridge from us 60 yards away. He has some field turkeys we set up on a few times, we finally got the right set up at around 10 only to have the landowner come driving through. Frustrating but we got a great show and had a great time. But boy it was humid and warm. We are going to go back tomorrow and set up in the strut zone with our sons and see if they keep the same schedule.
