And I got to pick up all our deer from last season. Good grief I can’t afford this any more. I told the boys a few years ago when we all killed real nice bucks that they shouldn’t expect that to happen often. Well, I guess it depends on how often you consider often. This is too often for my checkbook. Lol.

My bow kill is first, followed by my middle son John’s youth season kill, and then my oldest son, Luke, killed his the week before Christmas.

Look great! A few years ago the Wife says why aren't you mounting any deer anymore? Why ya doing all these skull mounts? I says well it's getting expensive, not too mention running out of room, and she looked at me kinda disappointed and i says well do YOU wanna pay for it? That ended that conversation 😄 But seriously I'm thankful to be married to a woman who wants more dead animals in the house lol, i know some poor fellers (some on here) can't get past the Garage with theirs 😂

I euro mounted the Greene co deer. I don’t shoulder mount much any more. It’ll take a giant to do another one. I’m ashamed at what I’ve spent on taxidermy over the years lol. This one is my second best AL bow kill and he’s very unique. I almost euro mounted him too.

That's where I am sitting right now, I use to mount any and everything when I first started killing good bucks, I think I stopped at 5 or 6, now it will have to be something bigger than anything I have on the wall already....came close to mounting a wide 8 pt this season, just didn't have a lot of mass annnndddddd......when I shot him, I hit him in the throat and would have to find another cape, so I just wen with the euro.....

I think I’m at 27 shoulder mounts and I don’t even know about euros lol. Then the kids have each mounted two bucks over the years. And they’ve started out killing way bigger deer than I did as a kid!

Gonna take something special for me to mount another one for what it costs nowadays. Ive posted a pic here before but I made a Euro Tree. I boil out all of mine and find another limb to hang it on.

Life is short! Can’t take money with you but a quality mount is something that will bring back memories from that day! The excitement, the adrenaline rush, even how the weather felt that day! They print more money every day. They don’t print memories! Nice deer, congrats!

Who was the taxidermist? I didn't see it posted but could have missed it.

What's the going rate these days? My last shoulder mount in 2018 was $600. Stones in Leeds did it.

Ron Bettendorf at Sorghum Hollow in Lamar county. He’s mounted all my stuff since 2007. He’s been under $600 until the last few years. He’s at $650 now I think. I didn’t even ask. I just paid up. Reason I don’t know is because I just keep a running invoice there. I’m never fully paid up. 🤷🏼‍♂️😂

It’s hard for me not to mount good deer/critters that we kill but I’ve gone to mostly skull mounts unless it’s something REAL special. The room and cost have become an issue.
