Does anyone have any experience with any of the systems that can alert family members are needed. We are looking for some type of alert system. That can be worn as a necklace or watch for my mother that would call me and or my other siblings. She doesn’t have internet so it have to be some type of cellular device I guess.
Thanks in advance

I know that if your mother in law is temporarily living with you and she has that little med alert button.............. and you take her to the store and her little dog freaks out and sets that thing off while you are gone, the paramedics will indeed kick your door off the hinges.

Ask me how I know. grin

We had Life Alert for my mother and aunt but they would not wear them. Older people don't think they need to have these because they don't have a problem. Good luck.

I know someone who actually fell in such a way, that the button was unreachable. Not 100% . FYI

We recently got medical guardian for my mom no problems so far. I have a pt I see that has one that goes off if it hit the floor no need to push a button. I accidentally knocked it off her table the other day and they called lol. Hers is also free because she qualifies as low income.

rst87 - without Internet what I am about to propose wouldn't work. However, after my Grandpa died - we installed cameras in the house to periodically check on my Grandma when the caregiver wasn't there. It's not perfect, but since everyone lived out of town from her - it gave us some peace to be able to make sure she hadn't fallen.

My neighor across the street fell, and her apple watch called for assistance. First was a deputy, followed by EMS.

My dad had the Life Alert that he wore around his neck . He always said he didn't need it because he had a cell phone but we argued he might not be able to get to the phone if he fell. Once he found out Medicare paid for it, he was all in.

Stay away from the alarm companies. ADT and especially Vivint.

same with my MIL, just decided she didnt need it.

Might be worth getting internet installed. You can get some $20 "baby monitor" cams off amazon. That work pretty good.
Maybe even an alexa type system were she can voice call if she needs it. Taking care of the elderly is alot of work.

My mom wore a thing around her neck. Not sure what system it was but it worked. I was helping her hoe out her garden when she stumbled and fell. I picked her up and we laughed and got back to work. A few minutes later a couple paramedics from the VFD showed up.

Not opposed to that if there are good options for that too. Looks like most of these systems are $40-$50 Month

Some of the part c plans may include them but you have to check and the benefits can change so it might not be offered in future. Also varies from state to state. But you might check in case the person has a part C plan it may have that benefit.

ADT is the biggest rip off ever. A complete joke. Their business model is to get your business 1 time and lure in as many suckers as possible.

Apple Watch works great. Will call EMS and emergency contacts. 👍
