Can’t help with a distributor but was curious if you have ever had success growing them? I’ve always done black oil and mixed in mammoth and never got any to mature. I did have a patch in Iowa do really well. Just curious more less

this will be my first attempt to grow them. We grew black oil sunflower seeds with success last season.

Keep in mind Deer love sunflowers. Dont know your deer densities but just know they will be in it. Good luck and show us some pics. I planted a strip down the middle of my hayfield one year. Was some work but the doves loved it and was a good shoot.

Did you use treflan as a pre-emmerge? I'm thinking of trying it this year.

If your asking me then No I did not pre-emerge. I ran a disk over it many many times to try to knock it back to bare dirt. Top sowed black oil sunflower, mixed in a few Mammoths sparingly. Did not replant the next year and it basically went back to hayfield with some voluntary sunflowers. The following year it was just hayfield again.
One thing to note on the Millet. It did come back the next year but it was not as thick. Even last year which was 3 yrs since I sowed millet there was some voluntary in there. More than I thought after I cut and burned it.

I sprayed pre emerge on the kudzu infested fields from last year late yesterday. Bush hogged all of it last weekend and while I did see a few sprigs here and there it was nothing like last year. The plan is to let it green up one more time in the next month or so, cut and spray again, then plant for dove in early to mid June. Fingers are crossed that this mess will be severely stunted , if not gone. It's been all out war for the last year.

Is it growing actually in your plots or infringing along the edges of them?

Everywhere. This spring is more sparse in it's growth though. But, it's still early. It's browned up well since last weekend but there were still plenty of sprigs showing up. I'm going to nuke whatever still has green on it Saturday. Let it all green up again, cut it, then hit it with Crossbow 1 more time before running the discs over it.

I over seeded the Millet last year and it was so thick the millet that the Kudzu had a hard time getting daylight. The millet did a lot better than the Black Oil Sunflowers did. By the time opening day came the flowers were nearly engulfed. I'm seeing some progress and I'll get it eventually. But when people say to just spray an established patch of Kudzu with Glyphosate or Crossbow once and it's gone, that is not the case. I've root raked, sprayed at least 5 times, bush hogged at least 5 times, ran the disc over it at least 3 times and it's still there.

I planted corn in strips then sunflowers going back later with millet. Bought me a 4 row planter the learning curve on it has been interesting.Killed 27 beavers so far, one farm wants rice I am worried about planting it i never have.
