No kill but dang what a show. Got in too tight on the roost. Coulda twigged him but just watched him gobble til fly down. He had 2 buddies with him. Pitched down and went away. Got into the most aggressive argument with a boss hen that I can remember. Dang near wore out a mouth call. Man she was pissed! I tried to pull her in and hoped she’d drag the gobs with her but no luck. Had 2 strutters and a subordinate gob at 100 yards. Thought I had em turned but they went left and outta sight. Pretty sight through the hardwoods!

Well didn’t hear one until 11:15 about 400 yds away across a creek. Got on his side and he answered 1x. I called it quits at 1:00. Almost stepped on a rather large diamondback on my way out. I’ve got a pic of someone wants to post it.

The big bull gnats? How far south are you? Was hoping they wouldn’t be bad this year.

Sounds like me and Dave were sitting the same ridge this morning.
I’ve never heard that much gobbling in Alabama before. Heard several toms fighting in the bottom, then had 2 strutting at 70 with hens neither would break away.
I’ll setup better tomorrow

Yes, the big bull gnats. I’m in S Alabama, north of Atmore.

I got my first bird yesterday morning! He went down about 9:30 or so. From first gobble to the shot probably was less than 15 minutes. It was an incredible experience. He was one bench below me and he went above me and came in from above. He thankfully gobbled on the way in so I could adjust. Dropped him at 50 yards and got to watch him gobble one time before i pulled the trigger. I've been practicing with mt mouth call and I'd say it paid off. 10" beard and 1 1/8" spurs.
