Found an old .410 double barrel in the gun cabinet. Is there any cons to having a side by side versus the over and under. Would like to order some chokes but haven’t a clue what’s good for the 410. Any advice?

Heard of lots of trouble getting both barrels to shoot at same POA

I saw Poorcountrypreacher killed his turkey with a SxS, wondering if he might chime in on this subject!

i have 2 sxs (410 and 20) and none shoot to the poa and have diff poi. he can elaborate on the subject but you file the barrel /choke in the direction you want the pattern to go. if its low, you file at 12 o’clock

Give me bout 15 more minutes, I was dreamin about beavers..........

I have a 410 Stevens SxS fixed full choke barrels, it shoots a great pattern with TSS. The right side barrel shoots to the left of a Turkey head at 35 yards, the left side barrel shoots to the right of a Turkey head at 35 yards.

I also have a ATI Turkey Fowl O/U 410, it has screw in chokes .The bottom barrel shoots really low. I’m working on patterning it for turkeys now. This is good info, if it works! Thanks, Robinhedd

Found a volunteer yesterday afternoon that gobbled good and earned the honor of being harvested with a SxS. smile

It's almost certain that there will be issues getting both barrels to shoot to the same POA with turkey loads. But it's not an insurmountable problem; you just gotta take a file to the chokes and tune it up. Best to do this with a gun that has choke tubes, because it won't shoot anything right except TSS after filing.

I have never done a 410 and it may be more difficult to center; I really don't know. Don't do it unless you really want a SxS turkey gun, as it's likely to cost time and money. Good luck with it
