So over the last couple years I have hunted less and less, and have came to a point where I no longer have the fever to go. Don’t get me wrong I still love seeing deer and watching deer. I just don’t have the urge to pull the trigger anymore. I have harvested some very nice bucks in my 46 years and have gotten where I would much rather let them walk in hopes a kid or senior will harvest them. I feel like I want to be in a club like majestic outdoors, that has a ministry through the outdoors. It feels like god is pulling me by my heart to go this new route, and I can no longer avoid it. This has been weighing heavy on me lately and just wanted to talk about it with y’all, maybe even some advice

Sound's like a great option to have a positive Christian influence and be a disciple for God! Also sounds like God is speaking to you and it is time to listen. I will pray for you that God gives you the clarity you need to move forward with his desires for you and best of luck if this is your calling!

If you feel that strongly, then definitely listen to your heart. I don’t think there is enough of this type of program to help young people to find their way in the outdoors these days. I bet half of the kids you are aiming to educate would enjoy seeing every aspect of deer hunting. Helping with planting, building shooting houses, and trying to figure out when & where to hunt on any given day.
If you can pry some kids away from a cellphone, and the rest off of a couch, you might find you have more of a need than you think.
Good luck Sir.

I got to that point and now it is all about getting meat or management to me. Unless there is a particularly nice buck, I just don't get the heart race that I used to when seeing deer. I found that the way to remedy that is to take a kid. Their excitement is infectious to me and I love it again.

Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

I like going just to watch them myself. I like to eat venision, and wouldn't mind shooting a nice buck every now and then.

I have considered what I would do when my lease sells, because I think eventually that is going to happen. Thinking about selling the tractor and implements and getting a boat and fishing again. Alot to be said if you are feeling stressed to put the boat in the water and go out and get it up on the pad and let it rip for while.

Once you kill a few it's just not as fun. The fun part for me is thinking about the trip, planning on where to hunt and being out there. The anticipation. If I were in a position, id focus on taking kids hunting who doesn't have a dad that enjoys it. There's a lot of kids out there that can't go because of that. As my son grows older, I realize that all the kids I see....have no desire to go. Hunters are dying out and not passing it on to the youth. Probably because land is scarce.

I am the same way about killing deer, unless its a buck better than what I have already it walks. You don't have to just deer hunt, take a kid squirrel hunting and build the love for the outdoors and hunting. Consider learning to trap also and take a kid along.

I appreciate the input, and have made the phone call to my club president and I am done after turkey season. I have taken kid after kid after kid hunting, including my own 2 kids. I done ran out of kids to take. Crazy strange how I was feeling about doing something different and now that I have officially made the call, I feel like a truck has been lifted off of me. I am super excited about the next chapter and spreading gods works through the outdoors

Touch base with Inatree. He is part of revive outdoors ministries. This is exactly what they do!

Here is a link to something he posted a few weeks ago.

I have the same pull going on as you. I feel God is leading me different ways than I previously planned in my life. I don’t intend on getting out of my club but I feel where I’m at in my life is not where I’m supposed to be. I intend on following through with wherever He may lead me. Can’t make decisions now due to some health issues that have arisen that will need immediate attention. But once I’m beyond that I can’t wait to see where He leads me. Good luck on your new road. God will absolutely put you exactly where He wants you.
