Probably already a thread I missed but there is a eclipse predicted on April 8. I read somewhere that the temperature should drop 10 degrees in the path of total eclipse which will run from Texas to Maine.

Surprising was the warnings to stock up on food, school closings, emergency declarations, etc.

I reread the article and now see the warnings were issued due to the expected influx of people to see the total eclipse. Still seems like overkill to me.

My kids are out of school for it. Lots of big parties with live bands playing in the streets. Hope it isnt cloudy that day 😀.

Im drawn for 1st season South zone in Illinois. Is it unethical to shoot a turkey off the roost in the middle of the day? Wouldnt that be a hell of a story.

The last eclipse came right over where I live now. We drove up from Georgia and stayed to watch it. I had people pulled off lining the roads. I even had to go confront trespassers that drove around a gate. It was a zoo last time. Im hoping since I'll be out of town hunting my wife doesnt have issues.

I'm heading to jonesboro Arkansas to see it. Have a buddy that saw it in Kentucky in 2017 I think, and he said it is an amazing experience. He said during total darkness the crickets started chirping thinking it was nighttime.

Small world, My girlfriend and I are also headed to Jonesboro to watch it. Prices are going sky high for hotels on that weekend, Jonesboro was the only place with a reasonable rate, but looks like they have some nice dining and entertainment options. we're looking forward to it.

For those that are in a great spot for the eclipse, I found it fascinating looking at the sidewalks/pavements and basically anything that light lands on to see the shadows created by the eclipse. We were in Colorado for a full eclipse some years back. The photos below I copied from the internet but they look just like the shadows we saw during that eclipse.

As much time as I spend in the woods, hard to tell the wife no. So we travelled and watched the eclipse in Nashville and will do the same in Arkansas to see this one.

Looks like we will be about 90% here. I wonder if the Turkeys will roost then fly back down? Kinda want to take off and hunt that day. Could be an interesting story.

I was working Sweetwater TN last time. Was pretty cool, looked like dusk 360 degrees and the cicadas started singing. Sweetwater was like a carnival, people everywhere and we only saw like 5-6 patients in the clinic that day. Mostly just stood outside the clinic and talked with folks. That clinic is in a strip mall setting.
