Feel like a fool but me and the wife just realized how much money we are paying for USAA coverage on our vehicles......good grief it's an insane amount. So we are shopping around. Who is a good reliable company with reasonable rates? So far we have only checked with Progressive and their quote for six months is HALF of the premium for USAA....

Keep in mind the quality of service if you ever had to make a claim.

USAA is a bottom feeder in this area. I deal with them often and they are not what they once were. In order of quality service from my perspective

1, Alfa
2. Chubb
3. Auto Owners

The 3 worst

1. USAA and Bluefire tie for the top
2. State Farm
3. Allstate / Geico / Progressive not in any particular order

We were with Progressive through a local agency here with the vehicles and with State Farm on the house before we switched to USAA and it saved a ton on the combined premiums and then there was an additional discount added after we added a banking product with them. But three years ago when we started a side hustle dump trailer business we went to Brandon Meyer for that because USAA couldn't do what we needed for to cover the business part. He is phenomenal with communicating with you! I don't think I have ever gone over 24 hours without a response to any email I have sent.

USAA sucks! I have allstate and got a quote from Alfa that was half what allstate was. Allstate was lower on home but total of the two, on an annual basis was Alfa was still cheaper by over 2k a year.

In Alabama, is gonna be very hard to beat ALFA for price , being there when you need them and paying what they're supposed to.

I don’t write personal lines anymore by choice but I obviously know about them as a licensed agent who used to write them. Get different quotes and look at the coverage being quoted. Is one quote lower because of the type or amount of coverage being offered? Look at the ratings and financial strength of the carrier. And ask folks you know like you’re doing about their experiences with carriers and agents. You have a lot of folks on here who like Brandon and had good experiences as clients. When I first started in the industry I messaged with Brandon who gave me great advice. He’s a great person who has years of experience and genuinely cares about his customers. Talk to him about your needs and get a quote . Talk to an ALFA agent too if you like. I think there are some on here who are probably nice and knowledgeable folks too. Then compare the quotes side by side and what coverage is offered in that quote. After that look at your experience interacting with the different agents. Did they explain what is covered and what is not covered. You may think you know what your policy covers but may get a rude surprise when you try to file a claim. You may find that the less expensive policy may not always be the best. It could be but don’t just look at premiums. Look at everything. Hope this helps.
