They are working great for the “early birds”, from what I’m being told. Bunch getting killed around here. I’ve been seeing boot tracks on woods roads pretty regular for a couple weeks - so it adds up. Contractor pulled up on a couple guys in camo this morning, said they had missed one.
The locals didn’t take well to the season delay and have mostly just said, screw it. Pretty much what I said would happen here. Poachers are scum Report them to the game warden or you are part of the problem if you know of illegal hunting and do nothing to stop it

If you think it's happening early you are likely incorrect as it happens about the same time annually Every year we have warm spells early in the year and people say the dogwoods are blooming and the turkeys are finished, a dog wood may bloom early, a hen could get bred early but the vast majority of turkeys are still right on schedule like they are every year

All my cameras have the gobblers grouped up. Hens too. I saw 4 single gobblers and one pair together yesterday. I went to take some firewood back to our little rain shack/cabin and the birds were on the move. Hens are still grouped though. Ive seen a couple groups of 30-40 this week and a group of 11 jakes. BTW even the hens are bending genders these days. One of the groups I saw I could only get a good look at 15-20 hens and it had at least 5 bearded hens in it. 3 had 9-10 inch beards and I saw 2 more with short 3 inch beards. Thin ones like usual but Im not sure Ive seen that many all together.

I've been doing this a long time. Same time each year.

We would be hunting right now if the state cared about success rates. There’s no better time to be in the woods trying to kill a turkey than right now. Nice crisp cool weather, gobblers on their feet moving around trying to find a harem. Woods are open but still green for this time of year. The first two weeks of April once hens start nesting seems better to me but that's just on the few places I go. Never really understood the love of mid March, very little green in the woods can make it tough to hide and gobblers can be seen a long ways by hens

I agree with the mid-March obsession. I caution myself every year not to hunt everyday the first two weeks and get burned out too early before it gets good. I’ve killed a bunch mid to late March. It’s good then as well as April

^^^ Yea - the rules breaking alone has negated any impact - will end up being a negative. We hav an exceptionally early spring this year - will be interesting to see what march 25 brings - think they be all henned up here. You know where i hunt 😀 - i had a strutter w 8 hens on 3/3. All the gobbs that were here deer season appear to be already in my neighbors hardwoods - cause i aint seeing em. Usually they go 20th to 30th to my neighbor - they already there now i think
Hunt the wind - leave it better than you found it - love your neighbor as you love your self We need prayer for our country now more than ever
