The biggest irony in the video is that she's wearing a Planet Fitness shirt.

It appears some people only start videoing when they expect “we about to get paid” moment arises. Get the policeman pissed off and push his buttons and see what happens; “pay day” maybe, so start filming. The policeman and city will pay; but too bad the entire incident was not on video. Policemen in Andalusia as well as the County need more Constitutional and Alabama law training, no doubt here. The article said they reviewed the officers bodycam footage so they should have the entire incident on video.

I am sure all of you would be singing a different tune if this happened to your family. Another cop that don't know basic 101 laws about being a LEO. You could not pay me enough now days to be a cop where so many hate the po po and are just looking to label everyone a racist and get their payday. Just a basic question and you don’t have to answer. Do you have a job dealing with todays public?

So you are okay with a cop coming into your home illegally, assaulting you or a family member, making an unlawful arrest because you did not provide ID that was not a lawful request? The son only started videoing this because it started getting out of hand. Chief of Police knows his officer screwed up and he is trying to avoid a civil law suit for his officers behavior. BTW I spent 30 yrs in military and my dad is retired cop so I am not a cop hater, just don't make excuse for cops behaving badly.

Officer unfortunately let an emotional decision direct his actions, she obviously got under his skin and he made a mistake and overstepped his authority.
I don’t envy what officers have to deal with in undertaking their duties. Rough job and many folks that they encounter don’t make it any easier

I have had many encounters with LEO and Game and Fish Officials over the years and I can say all went well. Treat folks with respect, show courtesy, and they have all walked away after a hand shake. Out of all of these encounters I only had one ticket and it was for going through an intersection when it was yellow and it changed to red-Still think I was in there before it turned red!
They have families to go home to and put their clothes on just like I do. I have the utmost respect for anyone upholding the law in today's crazy world. I deal with the public, but my life is not on the line everyday like the men in blue!
I can't stand a thief.

Not ok with it at all and would sue also possible if he went way overboard. Guess I just assumed you did not deal with the public mention. My bad for assuming. I know dealing with the public gets worse by the day and it seems everyone is looking to sue and get their payday. I deal with it in my profession we have to be extra careful now days in healthcare. And certain demographics want to push the police buttons I hope we can agree on that. Like someone else commented I would like to see the whole story here of what went down phone calls, body cams etc. im afraid with so many police leaving the force we are just going to get more and more less trained.

Do you have a job dealing with todays public? The reason people hate them is because the violate their rights. Providing an ID isn't the law in Alabama. Refusing to provide one is t obstruction, and going into someone's home like the officer did is a violation of the 4th amendment. When cops stop getting butt hurt and penalizing the citizens for calling them out on their illegal behavior, perhaps the public sentiment will change.

The question that is pertinent in this matter is at what point was she told she was being cited for a noise complaint? At that point she is technically under arrest and has no choice but to produce ID, if she has one. She is also mandated to provide the basic info. Name, address, birthdate, etc. Now realizing that the LEO can't force someone to give this info, they are taken to the pokie and held until they give the info, or their fingerprints come back through AFIS. This info is required to sign a bond. If he never told her she was being cited, then he was wrong and acted in the heat of the moment. BTW, if he admits this was the situation, then Federal prosecutors tend to not pursue these matters with a vengeance.
Once she is told she is being cited or arrested, her Civil Rights (certain ones) diminish significantly.
Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

15-5-30 is Alabama law that basically follows the US Supreme Court Terry v. Ohio ruling. The AL law says the police can ask for ID but nowhere does it say you have to produce it in a field interview.
