I know a lot of folks getting out of clubs because the cost isnt worth the hunting. Timber companies keep raising prices year after year. Leases the same way. I see a lot more leases out there for a lot longer time. I hope these greedy bastages have to drop the prices to a reasonable level. Timber companies can kiss my butt. I hate greedy folks. Damn those people trying to make a profit!!! If they depend on hunting leases to make their profit then they run a pretty sorry business They don’t depend on leases to make a profit and that’s exactly why I posted what I did about them just deciding to no longer deal with the hassle of leasing to hunters, if they feel they can’t get the price they want for dealing with it. Leases just add a little extra in profit on top of their real business which is buying and selling timber and land I would guess that lease payments offset the cost of owning the land, taxes and maintenance. When the timber is sold is when the profits roll in.

It gotten real expensive - corn jacked it up too. I hunted clubs most of my life - few good - but most of em you had adults acting like selfish 5 year olds - pathetic
I was fortunate - finally found small place to lease - been headache free - just me and the boy and he dont hunt hardly. I can manage and grow deer - been fun watching deer grow and shooting some - trap and improve property - enjoy doing it
Hunt the wind - leave it better than you found it - love your neighbor as you love your self We need prayer for our country now more than ever

I know several guys in mgmt with the big timber companies. Goal was always to cover the annual property taxes and road and land maintenance expenses with the hunting lease revenues. It is a very minor profit center for them or at least it was years ago. This is what the land manager told me also.

My luck has been so bad lately, it could be raining pussies and I'd catch one with a dick broke off in it.

Somebody somewhere is going to pay the $$. It may be all doctors and lawyers, but checks will be written and the land will be hunted.
You gonna pull them pistols, or whistle Dixie?

The price of deer leases in Alabama don’t hold a candle to what duck hunting leases cost down here!! And there’s no more ducks and geese down here. But every lease is full every year. People will pay!!

I guess it just depends on what they are looking for. Do they want a club to run to and hunt all year or do they want a 4 day hunt with a camp full of strangers. I’m sure some will go elsewhere. Not sure if most will.
The point I’m making is just what 3bailey3 said……His dues have went from $1100 to $1300…..now to $1500 which is about the most he is willing to pay……I suspect many clubs are going through this same thing……You reach a price point when 90% of your “customer base” isnt going to pay a higher price to hunt average Alabama land, so the clubs don’t have a whole lot of choice but to add more members and increase the hunter density…..As lease prices keep going up, so will hunter density. Any chance you can show this on a graph? I’m a visual learner…

If your paying $3000 or more annually for a lease I would think you would be better off going on an out of state hunt in kansas or ohio and have a better chance at a 130 plus buck. Agreed go out of state spend the $$$ in a few days. Gas eats hotels. And still save money. Going to a club every weekend driving to and from eating gas snack's get pricey if you kept up with all spent from the time you leave the house. Hunt public if ya need to go when you get the notion.

For a lot of people, myself included, it’s about more than just killing a deer. I truly enjoy working/being in the woods year ‘round. It’s the management of the land that I really enjoy about hunting.

This is what I decided to do a couple years ago. $3-5000 for a lease in Alabama with a small probability of a 125" deer, club maintenance and the cost of a camper, club drama, etc. Or, spend $5000 and have a nice trip and an excellent opportunity for 140"+ deer. Easy choice.
