My brother is going to have a mens baseball league at Brewer High School for men 16 and over. This is the first year he will be doing it. He is hoping for some of his and local high school kids to have a place to get a few innings in and also raise a little money. The games should be starting next Thursday or that following Monday. Its a late notice but he has been waiting for the administration to give him the ok. The fees are $50 which will include a team shirt. The league will run 6-8 weeks depending on amount of teams. As of now the games will be Monday and Thursday and the possibility of Tuesday. Normally you will play one game a week and if there is an odd number of teams one team a week may play a double header. If you have a co-worker or someone that you want to play with to ride with or something of that nature we can make sure you get put on the same team. You can pm me or call at 256-612-9015. If you pm me and are for sure you want to play include your shirt size and 2 preferred numbers, primary and secondary position so that he can try to evenly spread the teams. I just ask if you decide you want to play to take it serious and be at the games. We are looking at having10-12 per team so that everyone is getting to play and wouldn't want games being forfeited for lack of players.

My brain is telling me this would be awesome, but my body is not sure the right arm on this 33 year old body can still throw the pill in the mid 80s.

Where is Brewer High? Is this a new school? I've heard the name lately, but not sure it was called Brewer when I was in high school.

Brewer High is in Florette, on HWY 67 between Arab and Decatur.

Farther north than I thought, never heard of Florette. Would have been fun to try again, I think.

I would not mix under and over 18yo. In this litigious society, that's a lawsuit waiting to happen.

have to tend to agree. My son saw this post and immediately said, "sign me up". I told him I wouldnt do it because he is 22 and pitched in college and if he hit a 16 or 17 year old with an 89 mph fastball that it would end up being a lawsuit

Tim or anybody else that may be iterested there is an adult league in Auburn you can play in ( there were several father and sons playing in it)and it's pretty competetive. It's called the Billy Hitchcock league and the age is 19yo to what ever. The young pitchers are limited to the innings they can pitch and no its not to help them out but to help the old geezers out. Actually it's to help both out.

My mind thinks I would love to play in a league like that my body screams there is no way.

I am afraid that rebuilt knees would keep this old catcher from playing in a league.

Honestly I don't think he is worried that much about law suits or the older players hurting the high school kids. There will be several players that played college myself included. Most of the kids 16-18 will be 11th or 12th grade and should be playing varsity baseball. Even though we hope it is competitive it isn't going to be a league with semi-pro level players. Anyone who is throwing in the mid 80s will probably seem like Nolan Ryan. While Brewer is not known for being great at baseball they have been in one of the best baseball area in the state for several years with Cullman and Hartselle. Cullman has one of the better pitchers in the state who stays in the low to mid 90s. I think they'll be ok if they see someone who played in college that was upper 80s. The average varsity high school player who plays 5 or 6a baseball is going to see much better playing and pitching than what most people will be throwing in this league. The ones that you will have to worry about getting hurt are those who are a little older who come out trying to do too much and aren't in shape.
