A fellow Aldeer member commissioned this one. It’s an old Browning BBR action. New Proof Research barrel chamber in classic 30-06 Sniper gray action and Boyds Spike Camp stock Need to put a scope on it an go to the range now.

Looks good! Love to see older rifles have new life breathed into them.

A BBR in 30-06 was my first centerfire deer rifle and still have it. Bought at Pleasant Grove Gun Store. Very accurate. Did the Boyd's drop in fit or require some work? They’re mostly drop-in with minor fit work usually required for the gun to shoot it’s best. Gundoc worked his magic with a Boyd’s Classic on a Kimber 84M 257Bob of mine. I had him bed the action and free-float the barrel and now she’s a shooter that looks like a million bucks.

A BBR in 30-06 was my first centerfire deer rifle and still have it. Bought at Pleasant Grove Gun Store. Very accurate. Did the Boyd's drop in fit or require some work? I put the stock on this rifle a couple years ago with the factory barrel channel and it was a drop in fit. The Spike Camp could use better shaping and inletting from Boyds for the BBR. This was the first Spike Camp I'd worked with and since, I've put another on a different BBR a couple months ago and it require a lot of work to make the saftey work properly and I had to remove about 1/4 inch of material behind the receiver to "expose" the safety button and make it easier to access. As the stock ships, the safety is recessed into the stock and difficult to get to with your thumb...I talked to Doghouse yesterday and I'm going to do the same on this one. After rebarreling with the larger profile I had to remove a whole lot of material in the barrel channel to get it to drop in an float the barrel. Boyd's makes a nice stock, but their inletting - at least with the BBR - varies widely. Everythng else I've used from them seems to fit really well.

How hard was it to get that barrel off? Last one I fooled with we had to make relief cuts in the barrel just to get it off
Keep your booger hooker off the bang switch.

I was prepared to have to fight it, but I didn't even have to grunt when I applied pressure to the wrench. I was shocked when it broke loose as easy as it did to be honest. I've broke an action wrench on R700 in the past, that BBR felt like it was maybe torqued to 80 ft lb

That carbon fiber barrel makes me tingle deep inside.

That carbon fiber barrel makes me tingle deep inside. I hope it shoots well enough to make me do the same. CF barrels can be hit or miss - no pun intended - even Proof
