I have about 2-3 years until I may retire at 62. Will probably get another boat and hit the lake during the week. Weekends suck with all the boat ramp traffic. Then play around on my 40 acres and get the area ready for deer hunting and let my grandkids hunt and have at it. May get another old VW Scirocco and restore it. I miss the one I had before.

If I could quit completely. I'd piddle in my wood shop, raise a few chickens, maybe some cattle. Plant a small garden and work it. I'll probably die before that happens.

I’ve got a ways to go but plan to take the camper and travel the country, not just sightseeing but spending time in the communities then move on to the next when I get ready. I’d like to go on a few more mission trips as well.

I retired at 49. The first year was really good. By the end of the third year, I went back to work. I’m in the same field, just not nearly as much stress. It became too easy to get bored - especially in June - October.

I doubt I will ever retire but I love what I do. Work cows/greenhouses, guide some hunts, and co-pack peanuts in the fall. Work the restaurant on the weekends and keep up with some rental places

any plan you have goes to hell when ya drop the tailgate.....

I planned to sit on the porch and shoot beer cans.....now I'm 73 and raising a 10 yr old and a 13 yr old full-time. Nothing is promised or set in stone. Every day is a surprise.....

I've spent most of the money I've made in my lifetime on hunting and fishing. The rest I just wasted.....

Find youth to mentor. Learn a new skill. I’d turn into a river rat and start learning the local river or learn how to to key in on inshore and nearshore fishing.

Hoyt start back to your tradition of spending some time camping at the Big G. You got some younger ones to take out and show off your boat paddle

I still have a while before I pull the plug. People tell me you get bored and before you know it you are working another job.

I will have to experience that first hand before I believe that applies to me. I tell everyone at work the minute I'm eligible, there's going to be a big rush of wind heading towards the door and my chair will be empty and spinning.

I dont make plans. Saves me trouble cause I know all my plans go to hell if the plans rely on other people.

I was kind of forced into it in 2020 due to covid, as I'm in sales . I could have still done it by phone but that doesn't work as well as face to face so I decided to give semi-retirement a try. I'm fortunate that my lifestyle isn't extravagant and my business provides residual income or there is no way I could have done it because I never saved for retirement when I was younger.

I already hunted anytime I wanted to so I picked up golf again after a 12 years off and started traveling more. I still worked any referrals my customers sent me and continued serving the customers I had until the company I had been contracted with for 15 years sold out in 2023 and forced me to sell half my clients. So I just contracted with a new company and will start back working to replace those customers I lost in the buy out. From my short experience with it if you have enough things you enjoy you will find there isn't as much down time as you thought there would be.

As far as insurance, if you and your spouse are fairly healthy a health share plan cost way less than traditional insurance. I use a company called Zion Health and pay $195 a month but it covers nothing until I'm out of pocket $12,500 annually. After that it covers 100% with no limits. I have no real health issues so this works for me but if you have anything more than a little high blood pressure you're probably better off with traditional coverage.
