Traded into these two shotguns, thanks to knowledgeable members here I at least know what they are now. Left is a 1924 12 Ga Browning A5. Wood is excellent, wear on left receiver (looks like cold blue touch up), conservatively rate gun at 85%. Have not test fired. Other is a 1925 12 ga Remington Model 11 II, excellent condition overall, have test fired this one and its a shooter. When I picked up the Model 11 was told he had another one so I just bought both. Intent was to sell one and cut down the other into a truck gun, still haven't decided which one yet. My interests have always been in other areas so that's why I'm asking. Which one to keep, which one to cut down, which one to sell, or sell both and get something else. Any suggestions appreciated, also any indication of value. Thanks

I don’t have any educated input, but my opinion is it’s possible they are both worth more “to the right buyer” than a common truck-gun you could purchase on the market. If you convinced yourself there was enough difference, you could take the proceeds from one sale and buy a new truck gun and keep the difference.

Of course maybe you sort of like the idea of a historic gun like these serving in truck gun duty, so I could see that too.

RK keep both of them. Get you a 500 mossberg or rem 870 for a truck gun more shells and when you drop it it won't scratch much.

I would cry doing anything to that A5 besides bringing it back to its original state.

If it was good enough for Lone Wolf McQuade then it’s good enough for RK. I think a 18.5-20in A5 would make the perfect truck gun. Hard to drive a vehicle and run a pump shotgun at the same time if you’re flying solo.

Beautiful man! I’m drooling on that A5. Sorry for the mess! 😂. Congrats! Wish I could fall into a deal like that!

If you cut one of those beautiful shotguns to make it a truck gun, we may have to ban you. 😬

Should be able to get 2 each riot shotguns up at Larry's on an even trade for 1 of these fine pieces of history.

I'd keep the A5. When making these decisions I always pick the nicer gun. So if one had a rib and other didn't I'd keep the gun with the rib barrel as an example. Unless there is something special or more rare going on.

Pretty sure that Auto 5 is NOT a 1924 gun. PM me the serial #. My ‘guess’ (without even seeing all angles or serial#)?…1958-64

The model 11 is a pre-WWII, for sure.

Serial # is 164XX - no letters, ect.

For closure - I kept the Remington, will leave as is. Have the Browning for sale on consignment at a store.

Thanks for all the interest and replies

Don't cut one of those beautiful guns. Sell one to someone and use the money to buy a used Mossberg and have enough left to buy some TSS shells, sling, scope or holosight if that's your thing, and enough to take the wife and kids out to Wendy's for when they jack the prices up on you.

That's an early serial alright. Does the Browning have a gold trigger ? Looks like one in the pic.

Gold trigger and cross bolt safety say it’s a post WWII gun. Serial # does not jive with those two things. Can’t see engraving clear enough, lifter, barrel ring, barrel markings, tang, or if there is a magazine cutoff. I’d have to see it in person. The receiver may be 1923, but?

Even more reason to make a truck gun out of it. No different than building a custom rifle on a pre’64 M70 action or upgrading a G.I. 1911 to a beavertail grip safety and combat hammer to make it more shooter friendly. The only crime with old guns is putting them in the back of a closet or safe and never using them.
