140 Federal Fusions have done well for some. Others use Hornady American whitetail 140gr interlocks. People have had good luck with the Norma 150s. I've been shooting Federal 140gr TSXs but they have been discontinued and will be working on some 120gr Nosler ballistic tip loads for next year. Honestly just use whatever your gun shoots best and whatever you can get. 708 ammo seems to get very scarce near hunting season so when you find what your gonna use stock up

120gr Barnes TTSX is bad news on deer. The 150gr Norma whitetail that my buddy shoots in his has impressed me on whitetail and axis.

Can you find those in factory loads? I don't know about in 7mm-08, but my son's .243 liked these in a Federal loading that is no longer available. For 7mm-08, I'm a fan of 140 gr Accubonds (Nosler Trophy Grade loading). The price is high, but it's accurate in my rifle and is very consistent performer on deer out to 300 yards. Probably further, but that's about how far I've shot it. It's usually cheaper to order it. If I shot more than a box a year I'd probably go a different route, but between sighting in and a few deer a year, it's not really that much to pay. I don't shoot much just for trigger time, if I did, it wouldn't be this ammo.

Can you find those in factory loads? HSM is the only one I’m seeing. The 140gr Federal Fusion would probably perform great.

No reason to shoot a 120 grain at all in 7mm-08. ZERO. They have exactly the same max point blank range. 287yds vs 285 with a 140 grain.
No reason to shoot a bonded bullet either. The speeds are moderate at best.
7mm-08 is effectively the same a 7x57 which came out in 1892. I mean.... whos been out there hollering they couldn't shoot a hole through a deer for the last 100+ years?
Nobody. The military load is a 175 grain BTW. Reckon nobody back then really wanted a pea shooter
No government employees were harmed in the making of this mess.

We have used the 139gr interlocks for years with no issues. My boys shot two very large axis with them last year that were both over 200lbs.

I reload and for my 7-08 I use the 140Accubond. It has worked well for me. I killed many deer and hogs over the years with this bullet. I’ve heard the 120s were good but it’s hard to get away from something that works.

I just ordered 4 boxes of HSM Sierra Gameking 140 grain in 7mm-08, for a rifle I don't even have yet. But it's coming, as soon as Isaac Gallagher can get it built. I'm not worried at all if it will shoot the ammo well. Most everything he builds will shoot most all the factory ammo's pretty well. HSM ammo is about as close as you can get to hand loads. They put out an excellent product!
