I have a beautiful Siamese Mauser 45-70 with mannlicher stock that I believe to have been unfired when I got it. I finally got around to shooting it the other day. The loads I had were rounds I had loaded years ago for my Buffalo Classic single shot. The label with the load in the box was long gone, so have no idea what they were but they were mild out of the bolt gun. Like shooting hot 45 Colt. Prepping 80 pieces of brass currently to get to loading some. Have Hornady 300gr HPs on the shelf, but will probably order some heavier bullets. Anyone got a pepped up load for it? Not trying to tickle the heels of the .458 Win Mag, though the gun could probably handle it. Just want to smash a pig with authority.

I had one years ago. Never got a chance to shoot it. Someone liked it better. A lot of guns I had years ago would definitely be welcome back home now.

LOL! A 350-420 grn at 1300-1400 fps is PLENTY for any pig or deer around here!

If you want factory 300 grn, I have ~30-35 I will part with/never shoot (as I cast/reload).

I want them double dead! Really it’s more of a fun gun than anything. It’s too nice for me to beat around the woods with. Seen some loads posted but never really fooled around with it other than some 500gr hard cast I loaded that were downright unpleasant in the buffalo classic. I’ll start out with a load depending on what powder I have available that Hodgdon or Hornady has a load for. Really want to try some spitzers but have read these bolt guns don’t like to feed them. I bought a melting pot a while back, but haven’t selected a mold yet. If you’re not going to use them, I’ll take them off your hands. Just let me know.
