I have a mossberg 935 that is tapped for a scope. I have no clue about red dots and never researched them. What are your opinions?

Like anything else they have advantages and disadvantages. Burris Fastfire or a Vortex Venom would be my first choice if you decide to take the plunge.

I used a scope for awhile..then i switched to a full sized red dot an it was fine but it looked goofy..i switched to a micro red dot an its been pretty sweet. I know everbody swears by the burris an the vortex..But i got a tru glo mount and an ADE micro red dot off amazon an its been rock solid. Me an my brother both shoot the ADE an they have been flawless..an for $70 they are hard to beat.

I’ve got the Vortex Venom and it has been great. The best part about a red dot is you can make a shot with the gun at any angle. Wherever the red dot is pointing that’s where the shot goes. Plus it works really well in low light conditions, you can adjust the brightness as necessary.

I love minne. I have a fast fire on a speed bead mount. Sits low and co witnesses with the bead. I've killed several gobblers left handed and on odd angles. If the dot is on his head, it's a dead turkey. I turn it on at the beginning of season and turn it off at the end and just change the battery every year.I have a Holosun on another gun and it's probably a better sight, but I've had the burris a long time. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Look at the Williams LRS Reflex. Looks a little different than your standard Burris or Vortex, but with the LRS adapter plate the reticle sits lower on the receiver than any other reflex.

Great for kids but men shoot the bead on a shotgun.

I run a vortex venom. Learned the hard way to always carry an extra battery for them either in your vest or taped on the gun somewhere. On my SBE2 I can pop the recoil pad off pretty easily so I keep one in there, but I haven't figured out what I'll do with my 870 20ga.

Just wait till you (boys) get some old (men) eyes…
You can’t focus on your dot and your target anymore…
It sucks getting old

Globe that’s the reason I’m considering a red dot. My near vision has gotten bad. And since I’ve started wearing reading glasses, I’ve had issues with eye dominance. When I wing shoot now I have to wear sunglasses with a small piece of scotch tape on my left eye. I NEVER had this issue before my near vision started going bad. This past season I just closed my left eye but I figure if I’m gonna do that I might as well put a red dot on it.

Carbon can you send a link to the one you bought off of Amazon? I can’t seem to find an ADE sight for a shotgun on there. Not sure if the ones labeled for a handgun will work the same or not. I didn’t see the ADE Micro red dot anywhere on there.

I use a Burris ff3. Love it and no issues. A lot of turkeys have died due to it 😂

I can still focus on the bead, but the problem is that I see 3 of them. wink

I get a lot less of the starburst effect with a Burris than with a Venom, but other hunters have told me it's the opposite for them. Everything regarding eyes is unique to each person, so you almost have to try them to know which one works best for you. I am thankful for the little red dot sights, and would have to just give up turkey hunting without one. The odds of wounding a gobbler would be too high for me without it.

Me an my brother both have been sayin they gonna cost us a bird or somethin ignernt like that cause of how cheap they are..but they have actually been very reliable and have held zero no problem…really cant be that poorly built..ive looked at the burris and vortex up close and they aint a whole lot of difference structurally..the whole frame of the sight is solid aluminum..im not an expert at all.
