Yep. That’s exactly how I feel driving my wife’s hybrid Toyota. The 50+ MPG in town is pretty sweet though!

It's all fun and games until you need a battery. Then the 50 mpg savings disappears!

Rode in an Uber the other night and it was A tesla. The road noise in the cabin was so load I could barely hear the driver talking.

There's a place in Georgia I found out about, that will come to you and replace the battery. They have a big warranty and prices were pretty cheap. I had a mechanic telling me about it. I know that's vague. I'll try to find the details.

Toyota has a 10 yr 100K mile warranty on the batteries in their hybrid vehicles (at least my wife’s does). Doubtful she drives more than 10k/year. So guess I will cross that bridge in 10 years. Current cost to replace is ~$5K (not $30K). Not sure what the cost will be in 10 years but I do know car manufacturers are making more and more vehicles with Hybrid motors (not all electric motors). Seems to make sense…best of both worlds. Cost of batteries is likely to come down, but I could be wrong.

Not trying to convince anyone of anything. To each their own. I had similar thoughts, but after studying up on the subject have changed my mind. The lower cost of ownership/gas for my wife’s vehicle right now helps make up for high cost I have.

To OP’s original question…Yes I do feel like I’m driving a golf cart at times. Doesn’t really bother me though.
