All depends on the club and how they dog hunt. There is one outside of Atmore that has an 8 pt or better outside the ears rule, even on dog drives. They also don’t let anyone who doesn’t have dogs drive a vehicle in, they are dropped off as standers. No running and gunning tearing trucks up.

The run a lot of bird dogs instead of hounds, dogs jump the deer and run them a few hundred yards and move on to the next.

When I first started hunting the place I do now, 40+ years ago, there was an adjacent club that ran dogs. It didn't take us long to figure out how to backstand them. We always saw deer doing that so we had no issues with them running the dogs. If a dog crossed the property line after a deer, they always went back. That was a good club, so good in fact that the owner decided to make it his own private place. He always claimed that no one was hunting it but just a few people that he let at times. Judging from the amount of shots we would here from there though, he had no idea how many people were hunting it.

I'm sitting here on the last day of season in the rain wishing someone's dog would run one by me.
